2x 1.5L Ocean Spray Cranberry Classic for $5 (Sydney, NSW; Randwick Fresh World)

170

Hey guys,

Was shopping at Randwick Shopping Centre (not Royal Randwick, the other one with the Coles) and saw the fruit market (Randwick Fresh World) had a great special on Ocean Spray Cranberry juice - 2 for $5 or 1 for $3.

These usually retail for about $5.50 each at coles or woolies! This fruit market usually has these on special, last time a couple months ago they had 2 for $6…so this time it's even better. I love this stuff but it's usually too expensive from coles/woolies, even on special there it's nowhere near this price.

  • Oooo nice… my wife usually loads up when they go on special for $4 at Coles/Woolies… might have to make a trek out to Randwick this weekend.

Did they have a fair bit of stock?

  • They had a few unopened cartons left when I bought mine yesterday! (so guessing about 12 bottles per box I would say they had about 60 bottles left)

    • Awesome… could you let us know the expiry date on them as well?

    • All the boxes I've seen are 6 packs. A 12 pack of 1.5L can be a bit heavy for stacking purposes.

      • I bought 4 bottles, but the one I have here at work says "best before 21/11/2009".

ryang - now I think about it, you're probably right about the 6 pack. So I guess that would make it 30 or so in the shopfront…unless they had boxes out the back which I couldn't see.

        cheers

  • +1

On a semi related topic, if you have not seen how they farm cranberries have a look into it, it is interesting.

  • We have this cannery stock place in our town, this stuff tends to be 6 bottles for $10 - or you can get ones 'just out of use by date' for $1 a bottle…

Cranberry, Cranberry lite, Blackberry & that grapefruit one.

  • Wow… These are seriously EVERYWHERE all of a sudden….

    Ok, story time;

    • I got given a 6pack case of the "Lite" from my mother who was affected by the bushfires, she got it from a place that was offering free food to bushfire victims; turns out she doesn't like cranberry juice. Exp. date on those were 04/09.. Still tasted fine. :P

    • Next, I'm down at my local cheap food place, and they have 6packs of every flavour for $7. Quite a bargain. Exp. date 11/09. Didn't grab any then, still had a couple bottles @ home.

    • Then NQR had the same offering; 6pack @ $7. Exp. dates varied, but none were actually out of date.

    • Cheapest I've seen was at this warehouse food outlet near me - 6pack for $6.50. I'm heading back there this weekend to grab some more.

I'd have to say that Ocean Spray (or AU dist.) must be having trouble moving stock, it's usually the only reason NQR et al get stock in date. So if you really love cranberry juice (and OS make nice juice), look around your local NQR and other bargain food outlets.

  • Any of these places in Melbourne??

    • doubtful mate, this place looks like one of those independent fruit shops - doesn't look like it's part of a chain. sorry

    • Sorry, I should've mentioned where some of my bargain spots are…

I actually grabbed a 6 pack for $7 on my lunch break in Croydon. There's a small shop there that sells a heap of discount/EOL/etc food. Can't remember what it's called exactly.

The other warehouse that had them is at the end of Michellan Crt, Bayswater, just down from Stud Rd/Mountain Hwy intersection.

I'm a bandit for food bargains… Can't help myself from visiting all the little bargain shops to see if anything really awesome is available. :)

Edit: Oh, and the exp. date on the cranberry lite I got was 09/09, but the rest of the packs appeared to be either 11/09 or 12/09.

  • Got 4 bottles today from a fruit shop in Rozelle had same Best Before as stonedewoks post 21/11/2009.

2 for $4 or cloudy looking one from the fruit shop next door 2 for $4.50
