  • Thanks OP.

  • Good deal.
Still waiting for similar mark down pricing for 850 pro.

  • very good price. 850 Evo > MX100 at the same price point.

    • Curious, Why is that?

MSY have the same ssd for $275.

    • +2

      It's $315 from MSY

      • +1

        ah, my bad, youre right!

    • Probably the 840 Evo

  • +1

840 evo's still have a performance degradation issue. This hasn't occurred with the 850 evo's.

It might be too early to tell for 850 EVO. It is a slightly different technology: 3D TLC. However, the 840 EVO and 840 still suffer from the performance degradation issue for older files. The firmware fix for 840 EVO did not work. It is still risky with TLC drives.

  • so u guys still prefer this over mx100 512gb ? as a replacement in ultrabooks.

  • Great. My early 2011 Macbook Pro needs an upgrade. This will be perfect.

this ain't Cash Converters. Charging more than new for second-hand on a bargain site doesn't work.

brand new mate and cheaper than MSY.

Please read and know the facts before replying.

          Mate… you can keep it.

Amazon can provide warranty support or refund. Good customer support also.

Besides, this model has very limited track record. After the Samsung 840 and 840 EVO read performance slowdown issue (which Samsung to date still have no answer), it is risky to buy one of these.

          @netsurfer:

no issues with the 850 evo's mate only the 840 evo's.
and as i said if it doesn't sell i'll just use it.

    • +2

I'll give you $150, cause that would be a bargain!

Would you guys consider the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB at ~$145 AUD incl. shipping a good deal? Looking to upgrade my MBP 2011 and not sure if I'd use 500GB on a study laptop…

    • I read somewhere that SSDs function well if they have enough empty/unused space. 128gb might be enough storage space but I might end up filling it up quickly. So personally I would be looking at 500gb for Windows8.1 + 2-3 games+ Applications + free space.
The deal for the 128gb looks pretty good though.

      • Not really, by the time you convert to AUD then add on shipping it will be pretty much the same price as MSY ~$110… Unless you're using one of those special c/c card that doesn't convert currency.

For 250GB its a ~$25 difference and for 500GB its around ~$150 AUD price difference compared to MSY.

        • I just bought the 250gb which converted to around $145 AUD where On MSY its listed at $169.00 ($24 saving)

The 500gb price converts to $277 AUD where MSY lists it at $315 ($38 saving)

          So its all relative.

        • The 500gb price converts to $277 AUD where MSY lists it at $315 ($38 saving)

Just bought EVO 850 500GB for AUD $264.07 delivered. Selected US$ as currency on checkout and using Bankwest Mastercard with no Forex fees ;)
That makes it decent $50 saving on MSY price. Enough for another 4GB of laptop RAM ($47 @ MSY).

    • To me it's not worth the extra $20 over a Sandisk Ultra II, OCZ Arc 100 or Crucial MX 100 (reported issues notwithstanding)
