I have a Caribee Snow Drift Jumbo. Not exactly the warmest sleeping bag I have ever owned. Have been cold at night camping in the Perth hills (where it only just will get below 0).
They are definitely not for hiking. Massive even in a compression sack.
For the price however they are good if you want something to use in a caravan or camper.

    • And a 0°C rating ought not be mentioned in the same breath as "frosty conditions" unless you're an extremely warm sleeper. The bag name is also unnecessarily misleading: "Glacial Bay".

Horses for courses but even one bad night's sleep as a result of a cold bag will have you wishing you'd spent more for a better bag. Caribee doesn't appear to tell consumers how much fill is in their bags - ought to be a no no in this day and age.

Seems a good price for a bulky bag in the right circumstances though.

  • Coupon code works on other items as well.. Just ordered 40 x AA batteries delivered for $19.95

    • If you have a Bunnings near you, you can buy 60x Varta alkaline AAs for $18.96.
      ($9.48 per pack of 30)

      • Thanks - are they comparable to Duracell? no leaks?

        • I did a test a while back. The results were surprising. Do keep in mind my sample size is small of course.

          Alkaline AA test at 500mA
          Alkaline AA test at 100mA

At 500mA, the standard Energizer came in last. The Varta had 23% more capacity than the Energizer.
At 100mA, it came in second. The Energizer had 2% more capacity than the Varta.

About leaks, if you leave them discharging in a device for a long period of time, they all seem to leak. Just make sure the device isn't draining the battery constantly, or remove the batteries when they're dead, and you'll be fine.

  • There are quite a few Caribee around this price,

It's worth checking around. Maybe this is a budget range?

    • Looks like a good deal for this model. No idea how good this model is in relation to others in the price range, but it does look better than the very few that I've seen.

  • do these sleeping bags open up like a 'blanket'? ie the zips go to the bottom of the bag making it openable?

    • Yes they do

      • and yes, you can wash it down with a hose!
