Best Antivirus for my Alienware laptop using Microsoft Windows 8?

Hi guys

Could you please recommend an effective antivirus for my Alienware laptop using Microsoft Windows 8. I am not looking for any free antivirus. I currently have McAfee and used Norton in the past and were not happy with any of those.

    You want recommendation, so here goes.

    Not in any particular order

    Kaspersky

    Avira

    These 2 are the longest top performers over several years as tested by AV Comparatives.

    Meaning for years they have been at or near the top in real world detection.

      Kaspersky is a virus. If u don't renew u pretty much have to re-format to get rid of it.

    I personally don't like anti virus software. Have not used one for 5 years now. But I update windows regularly. Antivirus just slows down the computer.

    But if you think you need an antivirus than i would recommend avira antivirus. Its free and is ranked high.

    Ive always just used the one built into windows… not had any issues, but unlike my parents I don't go clicking on random links

    Nothing. Defender built into 8.1 works well. Use common sense.

    I use Avast and a combination of on-demand scanners, mostly MalwareBytes.
