Economy Class return airfare from just A$652 for departures from 21APR15 to 11NOV15

Pity Chinese New Year is in February

Good price for a good airline!

  • That's a pretty good deal despite our low Aussie dollar.

  • does that include stopover?

    • +1

PER to HKG on Cathay is a direct flight

      • Sorry I mean, if I want to include stopover, is that included in that price?
Stopover for me cost $100 bucks more, still a good deal.

  • +2

    good deal
    good airline.
    seats sucks, "recline" sucks.

    • -1

seats really small, recline really crap
but it'a good airline, no drop

    • +6

      The seat is not small.

With a seat pitch of 32 inches and width of 18.5 it is near industry leading and bigger than anything Qantas has to offer.

All economy seats CX flies to Australia have a 6 inch recline - they are not the old "shell" seats which were admittedly terrible.

        • +2

          Low some weight fatty

        • Its not about the size, its about the technique.

  • Good prices for Syd - HK as well. Around $674 in Late may - mid june. (They're the only dates I checked)

This is the link for the sale fares for the rest of Australia which are also attractive:

For those who are interested there's swine flu going on atm in China and Hong Kong. Maybe price has gone down because of that.
    It's H3N2

    Just beware of that

    • +1

swine flu is like the pre Chinese New Year celebration every year. If it is REALLY THAT serious, I guess there is no China and HK in the world map anymore…

      • +1

Heard the news this year is the worst since 2005, you can judge that I suppose. I'm just raising awareness for those traveling

        • +1

Earliest travel date is 21 Apr and the influenza season will be pasted by then.

    • +6

I would rather go to China and get swine flu than go to Africa and get ebola

      • -2

I would rather drink 1 episode worth of Oprah Winfrey's sweat than get swine flu from China.

  • What's there to do in Hong Kong? Went there in December and found it a bit boring…Would you use this deal more as a launchpad to go to other destinations? Europe?

    • +6

Geez extremedeal, you're hard to please! I guess if you don't like amazing food, shopping and sightseeing, it would be quite boring. Still each to his own I suppose.

      • dont mind him, he's just living upto his username

    • +2

LOL… boring? WHAT?! I would love to know what your definition of exciting destination be then

      • Well I was travelling around Asia for a month and I just found Hong Kong along with Singapore to be the most un-exciting, by which I mean comparatively speaking there is very little things to do/see there. Sure Disney and Ocean Park are fun, and there's the Big Buddha and Victoria Peak, but apart from that not too much. Streets in the centre are also very very busy, and personally didn't find the people to be very welcoming in general…

        • +1

So which Asia countries you enjoyed? Each countries has its own culture and attractions. There's a lot to do if you understand what each countries is offering.

If you are looking for cultural stuff then sure Hong Kong/Singapore is not the right place. But if you try explore the foods, nightlife, city life, shopping, entertainment etc then Hong Kong is the place to be. I found staying in Hong Kong for 7 days was not even remotely enough, every morning/night I always find something new to eat. I did not even get the chance to visit Victoria Peak and some of the markets.

The people is not too bad in there as well esp compared to mainland China. But obviously not as welcoming as the Japanese and Taiwanese.

  • +4

    Disney
    Big buddha
    Victoria peak
    The markets
    Lawloon
    Lightshow
    The food
    The shopping
    The bars
    The culture
    2 islands

    Need i list more?

Go to Macau using cotaijet for 1 day?

    • Ocean Park

for me HK is only a stop over, I would keep going to Seoul for aud750 from Perth.

    • +3

Currently in Seoul and tempted to return again later this year at this price.

  • +1

Just booked a trip MELB-HK-MELB for end of March/early April. (Not part of the sale and it's school holiday) Both midnight flights…$1457. So $652 is an amazing price for some lucky people.

  • +3

Sydney to Shanghai/Beijing for $704 and Tokyo for $768 are also really, really great.

  • +2

The trip I booked here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/167776

    …is now $68 cheaper.

    :(

  • Although I found this advertised fare on quite a few dates, I couldnt find it anytime during the July or September holidays

  • Hi Rep,
Just a question, if I book flight from Sydney to Shanghai and via HongKong(Which is not direct and has 1 stop). Stopover - 10h 0m at Hong Kong (HKG). Does Cathay Pacific provide free accommodation in HK ?

    • +3

Just a thought, wouldn't it be cheaper/convenient flying China Eastern and the likes? Plenty of them offer direct flights to Shanga. Pretty sure CX won't provide accommodation so you're on your own.

    • Try flying in to PVG.

  • Sydney-Sappro return $750 is a good price.

With the current Jetstar 2 for 1 sale, it costs $1200+luggage for two people return. You have to change Cairns and Osaka twice.
