hmm 6 minutes in and no votes yet, only 10 of the 4 Bay Pro Quads left and only 30 of the 2 Bay left

    edit

While the reviews are for a version that comes with HDDs included, the reviews of the same unit are terrible

Shame as I am looking to purchase my first NAS. This won't be that purchase

The reviews aren't that bad. This is the unit for sale. http://www.amazon.com/BUFFALO-LinkStation-2-Drive-Personal-S…
Having said that, I won't be buying it either, i'm after a NAS too and will be getting a Synology 215j

      • Ahh fair call. Looks like the 2 Bay version could well be decent. I just skipped to the 4 Bay reviews as that is the capacity I'm after.

Thanks for the mention of Synology, I'll check out their 4 bay models. At a glance they get great reviews on Amazon

      • Every time I've deviated from Synology or Qnap, I've wanted to cry.

  • Good price on the switch. I recently bought the 24 port version for over $200. Not sure if it has much purpose for home users though. It supports LACP for those into their NAS and networking, which is the main reason I bought it.

  • Site seems to be getting hammered.

Does anyone know if the D-Link DGS-1210-16 16 Ports Switch has PoE? Can't see in reviews, but it appears the 10 port version does.

I'm pretty sure only the "P" models support PoE, as in DGS-1210-24P and DGS-1210-08P.

      The P denotes POE.

      The 8 and 24 does.

edit: replied a few seconds too late ;P

    • Thanks for the replies guys. Now just waiting for the site to load the cart and give me a shipping estimate!

  • I've got a 4-bay Buffalo NAS, and I've been using it for several years now. They're rootable, there's customized firmware around for them, and it's been very reliable.

As long as you don't try to do Raid 5, that is! It did not like that at all. Mirrors are fine.

$45.95 for delivery to Perth on the Switch
$31.95 for delivery to Perth on the 4-bay NAS

Had the switch in my cart, but with those shipping costs I noped out of there.
