This is a great controller if you don't want to buy a PS4/XB1 controller for PC. I dislike the triggers and the weird 'bulbs' under where your fingers sit. This isn't really a great deal though, I bought this controller for $39 at uMart on 15/4/13.

In all honesty you would be better off buying a 360 controller. $37.99 at JB for wired. Gets a little more expensive if you want the wireless option. If you buy the wired 360 controller you may need this driver, not sure if it comes built into windows.

    • pretty sure it will just work just by plugging in. (at least in my experience)

      • Yeah, I think it does now. I don't need any drivers for my XB1 controller but I need to use DS4 Tool to use my PS4 controller. Weird stuff.

    • i paid $27 for my F710…so yeah, not really a great deal. (but then, i don't think they have ever gone that cheap again…so fair enough)

but in terms of being better off getting a 360 controller, that is entirely subjective - it depends entirely on what you prefer. i would buy an $38 F710 over a $9/$12 (or whatever it was with cashback) xbox controller any day of the week. (i already own THREE 360 wireless controllers…i much prefer the F710, and use that exclusively.)

      each to their own. :)

Yeah, it's absolutely subjective. I should have made that point clear, I just prefer the design of the 360 controller, easier to hold for me. F710 is a little more bulkier in certain areas. Still worth it though

    • last week computer alliance was selling wired xb 360 wired for $8 after $16 cash back and Xbox 360 Wireless controller $19 after $20 cash back. Still worked out better

could've bought 2 wireless controllers for the price of one. I did buy this logitech f710 and din't find it good, keys would get stuck and not proper response while gaming tested my patience so I returned it back and bought xbox controller, never turned back after that

      • cheaper: yes. better: that depends.

sorry that you had issues with the F710. i love mine, and have not had any issue with response or keys getting stuck. but yeah, if the xbox controller suits you better, then you're right: it's a no brainer for you as it can be had much cheaper with cashback! :)

the 360 controllers are dirt cheap with the cash back offer that MS have.

  • kinda dont see the point

xbox one and ps4 controllers are just too damn expensive

but you may as well get the xbox 360 controller with the pc dongle

cashback is probably over but i think everyone here is full up on 360 controllers they dont need

    • kinda dont see the point

uh, maybe because they are different? maybe because some people prefer the symmetric stick layout over the asymmetric stick layout of the xbox controller? maybe because some people prefer a non-crappy d-pad?

i have 3 wireless xbox controllers. i let other people use those, and i use my F710. every. damn. time.

i'm sorry that you can't see the point…

I agree with your points just not a huge fan of the F710 design.

        • yeah fair enough, each to their own! :)

i know a lot of people prefer the xbox controller, and that's all good. i'm not knocking the xbox controller at all (well, maybe about the d-pad! :P)…as i said, each to their own. i'm just saying there is a "point" to some people - some people most definitely will prefer the F710 over the xbox controller, so saying there's no point is a bit silly. ;)

        • @caprimulgus:
Yeah, the D-pad is terrible (let's roll left and right!) on the 360. If I had a choice I would pick a PlayStation controller though, I do like the slim aspect of it. Each to their own, though ;)

        • @kaneissik:

yeah, definitely, me too! i've been waiting for the dualshock 4 to go sub-$50…i've been tempted so many times when it's got close to $50, but i just can't justify it when i already have 4 controllers (and no-one to play with!), ahaha. :)

but yeah, the moment they drop to $40 or so (if ever) i'll almost certainly be switching to a DS4! and i guess then i'll be able to offer other people the choice between controllers/layouts…until then, they have a choice between any of my 3 xbox controllers! :)

          @caprimulgus:
You have a lot of controllers! I have 4 as well. PS4/XB1/360/F710, I don't have any friends that can use them though…

  • I regularly play 4 player Archon and these controllers are useless due to input lag and hard to pull d pad shots
Just a warning for any competitive players playing quick firing d pad aiming games

    • Stupid question but how close are you to the wireless dongle? The input lag stopped for me when I was under a metre away from the dongle.

      • playing on a 70inch so we are 1.5-3.2 metres away approx
anyway the diagonal shots fired dont seem as accurate as a n64 or ps2 controller dpad

This controller is pretty heavy with the batteries installed (you can use rechargeable ones of course).

Battery life is amazing, Vibration is pretty solid and the controller has the usual MODE
(D-Pad/Analog switch) and X-D input switch toggle. Buttons have a good feel and the controller is of a solid build quality.

With regards to "wireless lag" - I haven't found that, I sit approx 2.5M away from the TV and that's why I got a wireless one, I have plenty of competing Wi-Fi/Radio signals and have found the connection to be robust and lag-free, I cannot say the same with the keyboard/mouse setup from the same brand.

RE: X360W/F710 It comes down to personal choice/comfort - for example; I was playing through the new(ish) Tomb Raider reboot and found that I actually couldn't physically pull off certain moves with the F710 because of the analog stick positions, whereas my friend could. With the X360W I was able to do it first go and as a result, I find it more comfortable and easier to use overall for any "Games for Windows" titles.

For emulation (particularly PS1/2) I find the F710's analog sticks to be in the right spot for those games. I also liked the fact that the wired (F310?) was really cheap (<$15) at the time when I purchased the F710 so I got both for under $50.

I have two of these controllers and they are great! Got my PC hooked up to my TV and quite often play Steam games on the couch. Had them for ages and haven't had to replace the batteries yet. They come with software I think but in my experience you don't need it. Got them because I'm more used to PlayStation style controllers and they're very well built.
