  • Keep an eye out and you find a bargain like this one. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/139368

  • I like the ones you get in bulk packs from Aldi every now and then as part of their special buys.

    I buy Varta from Bunnings or similar packs from Masters. I haven't found anything cheaper and/or more convenient.

  • Tell me this; why DON'T you want to use eneloops instead?

    • Probably the voltage difference. Well I use eneloop most the time except some remote controls and weather stations. I know eneloop is doing great for LSD but I would use it elsewhere (Discharging rate of the single-use (good quality) one might be even better than eneloop I must say).

      Also for some working environment, like college or school, single use battery is better for long lasting equipments (clock, wireless keyboard, etc.) to avoid potential loss of investments :-)

      Eneloop is great but some of the devices would not accept them due to the chemical properties for NI-MH (my 3rd party interval trigger for DSLRs, and Canon bluetooth calculators). However, Envelop is great for Flashlights anyway (600EX-RT is working seamlessly with eneloop).

        All good points and thanks for sharing hombre, but I was kinda asking the OP…

        • not going to waste recharge batteries in kids toys and odd little gadgets like remotes

          @Brad002:
          I can understand your sentiment re the (TV/PVR) remotes and similar things like calculators etc., which can function on a single battery for years; but not the kids toys. They are PERFECT CANDIDATES for non-slow-draining rechargables. Especially the toys that move (and are thus quite power-hungry). I'm not suggesting you should get a set of ENELOOPS for every single toy in your house… I'm just saying you might want to consider getting about 8 AAs and a quick-charger. That way, whatever toy the kid/s get transiently fixated on won't be chewing through disposables all the time… you can just keep cycling the same eneloops through it.

  • Varta from Bunnings.

    Don't forget to dispose of them at recycling drop off places like Aldi & Battery World.
    They don't get thrown out with your garbage because the chemicals leak.

  • A couple of times I've seen like a 20pack with a nice little torch in big w. batteries have been fine, torch adds to the value.
