Worked for me (booking a US hotel with Australian credit card).
Where do you put the coupon code?
-Choose your hotel
- Select -Book
- The screen where it starts asking you for your details there is a sort of hidden part that you need to expand to enter and apply the promo code
Its not the most easily found thing.. I had to google it at first ;)
