Haven't had this coffee for well over a year so extremely happy to have it back in stock.
They have to get it back down the mountain to be processed very quickly before the beans go mouldly due to climate in Nepal which can often present a big challenge to the farmers due to the terrain and narrow tracks which can often get blocked.
This coffee often has to be flown out and is produced in small quantities

Nepalese coffee production is still in the very early stages of development with quite low production. The country grows a little Robusta in the lower lands and in some pockets arabica farms are popping up alongside integrated projects providing farmer support and seedling nurseries. Nepal is quite well suited to Arabica production with high altitudes, plenty of sunshine and good supply of water derived from the many mountain rivers. The soil is mainly sandy loams. Coffee production is being promoted as a means to improve livelihoods of farmers and to help them diversify their crops to bring in more income. As Nepal is a landlocked country with very mountainous terrain and often the only way out is by air which makes coffee costly to export. It is packed in 50kg bags
