Well it's not $99, as the "rebate" would seem to be a "voucher" that can only be used at TopBuy! Unless I am horribly mistaken?

    • Ohh I didn't see that, no wonder they are a bit vague about rebate details.

    Not $279.00
    Not Even $149.00
    Now only…
    $149.95

You should be able to get a similar sized HD for around $99 without the hassle of rebate.
None the less good deal if you see it through.

  • Any idea what model number this drive is?

It looks different to the S2 Portable drives on the Samsung website
    http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/productmodel.do?g…

The only thing I've found which looks like the item on sale is the HM160JU 160GB Model
    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-det…

It doesn't seem to be a very common model. I haven't seen it at any other retailers.

    $106 @ msy - wd model

This is good if it's $99 after cash rebate, and not good if it's a $50 'voucher'.

If it is a voucher title should read $149 with bonus $50 voucher or similar.

      What are Topbuy Rebates?

When you purchase a Topbuy Rebate Item, you will earn store credit that can be used towards your next purchase of any product from our website.

So, a Store Credit rather than a rebate,, but they go on to add…

Not only that, but if you have saved over $50 worth of points, you can redeem them for cash.

So maybe you can then claim the $50 credit as cash and that effectively becomes a rebate? (But mind you, it does say over $50 worth of points!

      • Then perhaps you can edit the title to reflect this :)

To me, when I read $99 - I think $99 AUD. Not $149 with $50 TPBD rebate. Very misleading. Maybe $149 with free $50 store credit is better.

EDIT: Just read your edit, good point, some clarification would be nice - whether or not you can turn it into real money or if you need $50.01 to do so :)

Amended title to more accurately reflect the nature of the "Topbuy Rebate".
