Nikon Coolpix L820 16MP Compact Digital Camera $100 (Was $224) @ Big W (Limited Stock)

420

Big W seems to be clearing out all their cameras. That's great news. Because here is another more-than-50%-off deal for a decent(ish) 16MP point and shoot.
Is there a better camera than this? - YES
Is there a better camera than this for $100? - May be not

Review from Amazon

As with the other Big W camera deals, GOOD LUCK finding stock !!!!

Edit 1: Black colour only

  • Not a bad camera i had one for a while paid 225 for it sold it for 170 but at 100 its great value.

  • geeeez! BigW is going crazy with these clearance Sales!

  • good price for long zoom camera

  • This is a good deal. Bought one of these for my wife xmas 2013, on special for $170. Its a good little camera and uses AA batteries instead of those expensive lithium types. I bought rechargable AA's so battery costs are really low.

      i hope you mean eneloops

      • +8

are you suggesting there could be any other kind of rechargable?

  • just been informed from a lady from a BigW store in VIC that they are not honouring the $100 price because its "below their cost price"

Where did you take this photo? They're saying its not from a BigW store. Cheers!!!

Looks like a Dick Smith ticket actually…

    • Did you ask them to scan the item first?

      • She scanned the item and it was still coming up as $224. She even had ozbargain up on a computer there with the store manager to look at the photo. She said it must be at another store, or a "clearance BigW store".

        • OK. I would have thought the prices were uniform across all stores, just as they were with the other 2 clearance camera deals.

        • I would have thought so too… might not be the case. Anyway, i found out that this photo might have been taken at the Livingston Big W in WA, I guess I might give them a call once their open and see what the go is.

        • @lemons4lime:
That's from Big W in Riverton WA.

        • BigW, at least my local store, does not price match, not even other BigW stores. Asking the manager is normally a waste of time.

        • It's definitely a Big W ticket but not all clearances are nationwide, some of them are "manager's specials", so an individual manager has marked down the price. The previous two camera specials were nationwide, this appears to be a manager's special. Meaning this deal is entirely localised to one store.

          @perthian:

Perth finally getting a share of the ozbargain pie!

Should just buy a camera i don't need to commemorate this event!

  • OP, was this the last camera in their store? Maybe it was ex-display?

    • They said the box has not been opened. But there was no seal on the box.

    None at Beenleigh but there
is an Olympus epm1 for 200 if anyone wants it. There is an L830 also and plenty of stock but no clearance on that.

    • too high for pm1

      • Or I have an Olympus epm2 that I used once on holidays for sale for 200 8 mths old as new

        • Wish i needed one :P

  • I just checked with my local BIG W the price is only for black colour it's a discontinued model no stock in most stores and other colours are still $224. Ask for black colour

Not available at the QV Big W store in Melbourne CBD.

    • saved me the trip, thanks!

  • Yea its just the black model that is for $100. None at: Broadmeadows, Craigieburn or Epping. Hopefully I get the next camera deal thats on, they all know me at those stores now i've hasseled them that much!

Shame I'm at work, and if there was a single one in SA it'd be sold 2 hours ago… I'd love to get excited with these camera clearances but knowing full well I won't find one…

    • +2

Don't lose hope. I got a Canon 600D for $394 after cashback in SA about a week after the deal was posted.

      • Have you got your cashback yet?

        • Yep received it on the 9th.

        • @Austrosaurus:

Perhaps I should chase mine up. It only got acknowledged 2 days ago. It said to allow 30 days (another 30???). I purchased Dec 11th but it was a Christmas gift from my wife so the claim wasn't put in till the 25th. I guess I should wait till the 25th or 30th before hassling them.

I have a couple more cashbacks coming and those purchases weren't finalised until the 15th of this month so I guess it'll be mid Feb at the earliest before I get the money.

Still it's worth the hassle to save hundreds on gear.

        • @syousef:

I entered my claim right around the 13th so I think you'll be receiving it soon.

        • @Austrosaurus:

Thanks. Will keep an eye out.

  • How is this compared to the Fujifilm 8600 for $59 at Kmart?

    • -1

that was epic. this is ok

  • Is the 30X zoom a bad thing? Unless you carry a tripod and do bird-spotting, most of that range is useless.
What compromises does it mean? Smaller aperture, weight, and surely the wide-angle quality must suffer?

    • Yes quality will suffer but I think it's a big positive for 90% of people with point and shoots. The quality will still be very good.

    • I managed to grab a lower speced L310 a couple of years back for this price at OW, as it was the last one of a run-out, and there was a slight scuff near the [also metal] tripod mount. Sometimes for macro I need to set it to single focus mode in low light conditions. Yesterday I managed to take a 21X zoom [max] shot on a helicopter towing a "Presto" banner while I was free standing in the middle of the lawn.

As you can see, I'n no photographer, but it's a fair result for the effort put in :-P

      • Was almost going to take a picture of that myself. You in Adelaide or do they have a national helicopter campaign going on :P?

        • Hopefully just Adelaide, tho I guess comments about Foxtel and air pollution are OT… :-p I'm surprised they used a chopper tho - more annoying from a noise point of view, and surely a lot more expensive than a fixed-wing with banner…

    • I have a Canon 50x Zoom, and most of the shots are pretty good even at full zoom.
Great to take picture of my son during field competition from the stands, or pics of planes flighing over our house.
Whithout having to carry those huge SLR Zooms.

  • called Cumberland Park & Marion stores in SA - zero stock.

  • -7

    yea. very hard to find.

big W phone service is fkn nuts, same annoying hold music every store, half of them hang up on you..

    its a joke, seriously.

ok. 10 minutes later i managed to find one in Sydney.. but for 240$

    this post blows man

  • managed to score the last one at Eastland Big W for listed price.

  • I checked at Big W Brisbane CBD at lunchtime. They have several in black & rose, but still at the regular price. The nice lady explained that it was probably a manager's special on their last stock, and not nationally. I'll keep an eye on them - it's a good incentive to go for a walk.

    • i was told from a lady at the Epping Store in VIC that the discount only applies to the black model. if she had one in stock she would have given it to me at that price. maybe give them a call today.

  • My folks managed to price match at the Phoenix store by showing them this OzBargain page then asking for the manager when the staff said No. They got the last one there though.

  • Only the L830 in stock at Ballarat :(

  • Where in WA has the camera
What did you find in store ??
