Android App isnt working correctly, it wont let you sign in for some reasons

    • mine is fine.

    • Android app not working here either, sign in rejected.

      Edit: Now working.

    • Android app isn't listed on their web site. just iPhone & Windows phone.

  • It pays to check where the Dimmi reward voucher is accepted in your state. In SA, there are only two restaurants (neither of which I'd want to visit).

    • 15 in "Melbourne" (that includes Geelong, McCrae and Yering). Also "Important: please note that you cannot use your Dimmi Rewards voucher on Fridays, Saturdays, public holidays, the Christmas period, festivals and events". That potentially rules out every single day. Dubious business.

I used a rewards meal in Melbourne at AJA in Albert Park recently for lunch and they wouldn't let me order from the lunch menu, they told me: " we're not getting paid and you're getting this meal for free so you have to order from the dinner menu", note the dinner menu was triple the price as the lunch menu for the same items! I think it's still okay to get a free meal but this restaurant did treat us like criminals stealing a free meal from them. Not the most pleasant experience that's for sure.

        • +6

Wow, that's quite bad hope you wrote that in the review. I would of thought that they will get reimbursed some how by Dimmi.

        • +4

I would tell the 'DIMMI-dudes' about that; advise them to send in a 'secret shopper' with a voucher at lunch-time and see what happens. If I go there with a voucher (which actually I probably won't now), I reckon I'll have my moby set to 'record' as I'm making the order, just in case. What A-wipes, treating you like that, just for partaking in a scheme they have agreed to be part of. While you are getting the meal for free, they are most certainly not 'giving it away' to you; i.e. they are getting something out of it, from Dimmi. Please do alert Dimmi to how they treated you.
Also, I recall DIMMI is heavily 'review oriented'/ encourages all who use their system to leave a review. Did you leave one, mentioning the ridiculous stance of the establishment re the voucher/lunch menu?

Should all book at Aja via dimmi and not turn up. That'll teach them!

        • +1

@hys: yeah I am definitely writing about it on a review in Dimmi. I have to get around to letting Dimmi know to especially because this restaurant wants to take part in the reward meals but just don't seem that pleased about it. I'm pretty sure they do get reimbursed by Dimmi too, seriously maybe we just went in when the grumpy owner (older man) was serving us. I have been there before when a younger women served us and it was actually quite pleasant. I'm not sure that I'll be rushing back. If anyone wants to try their luck at AJA I would recommend calling up first to see if the woman server is working and find out whether they will give you the specials lunch menu or whether they just make you order from the dinner menu at lunchtime which is kinda ridiculous.

        • @imissbeans: used a Dimmi voucher at Aja some years ago and no problem. But that was for dinner on a weeknight, and the scheme was new then.

        • @Moondog: I think the main gripe I have was that they made me order from the dinner menu and it was lunch time. A few weeks back they actually had an Ala Carte lunch menu (which are the similar dishes to the dinner menu but cheaper for the lunch sitting) and when I went this time, they said they no longer offer the ala carte for lunch and only had a lunch specials menu which was a few rice dishes and their dim sim menu. But they wouldnt let me order from any lunch menu and forced me to order from the dinner menu which was priced higher, so obviously you get less food with the voucher. Aja removed the ala carte menu for lunch so that when we come in for reward lunches, we have to order the more expensive priced food from dinner ala carte.

        • Thanks for your comment. I have some Dimmi points and I will avoid this restaurant.

If anyone knows of any other good or bad experiences, it'd be great to hear.

@arcticmonkey: I don't want to put everyone off using their reward meal at Aja, but maybe you can call up first to find out what menu you will be asked to order from, especially when going for lunch. I found that with the dinner menu for $50 in rewards, I could only order one rice which cost around $20 and is tiny for that price, and two small entries (two spring rolls for around $11 and a entree sized salt and pepper squid for around $18). I just checked my Rewards account in Dimmi and I see that AJA is not listed as a restaurant anymore (on mine anyway!), which I find strange, I actually only ate there a week ago. I still have another reward meal so if anyone has any great experiences in Melbs, I'd love to know!!

        • +1

          @arcticmonkey:
Or good ones? I'd appreciate it if anyone can share an experience about using the $50 "free meals" voucher at a place on the VIC list (not Geelong; that's a bit far for me to go!) that was positive.

        • Report them to your Consumer Affairs, eg, for something like Bait & Switch tactics.

        • Anyone tried using Dimmi's "average price" (for each restaurant), eg, to get access to Lunch menu, when there at lunch time?

        • +1

@imissbeans: Why not contact Dimmi direct? Maybe the SA and Vic market manager: https://www.dimmi.com.au/about-dimmi/executive-team/

        • @CelloPop: Thanks, I will!

        • @IVI: I might start with Dimmi first! I didn't actually realise it was potentially Bait and Switch, but now that you mentioned it, who wants to go in for lunch and get charged dinner prices?!

        • I'd just like to say, just tried my $50 at Sharak (Japanese) in Sydney
          http://www.dimmi.com.au/restaurant/sharak-japanese-izakaya-r…

They were excellent, and were content and full after spending $58, which included about 4 sushi (main sized) rolls, 1 pancake (entree sized) and one green tea creme brulee

      • +2

yeh I havent used my $50 from last time yet - half those 15 in melbourne look like they have 1 foot in the grave - and half of the rest are very spaced out in the suburbs which just leaves 4 potentially overpriced restaurants to choose from.

Im hoping more restaurants participate before it expires.

    • how do you check where the reward voucher is valid?

      • EDIT: looked at the previous deal post… why do only Jollys Boathouse and the other place accept the reward voucher? should be all places…

      • 1 year from when you earned the points

    • -1

I saw 10 & an offer to show more, for SA.
maybe your device is too slow, or got interrupted, when your looked?

      • +1

No, there are definitely only 2 restaurants available to use for reward bookings in SA - Celsius and Jolleys Boathouse. You will find this when clicking on 'where to redeem' in your account. Not sure where you saw 10, unless you were looking at the general list of restaurants to book (which is entirely different).

        • +1

Wow! Then this really seems like a Waste of Time… And NOT a DEAL, to me.

          Still thinking Scam here…

  • I'm a bit sceptical about whether this may be targeted…

I haven't seen this in mine inbox, but have previously.

    • have just received email as well

  • I saw a condition on their website: minimum 2 people. So to use the voucher, I need to book a table for 2 at least? $50 will not suffice for 2 people for sure. You need to pay a lot more.

    Any idea on this?

  • +1

Is it just me or is Dimmi an absolutely terrible name. I guess it's memorable but not much else :D … Keep thinking "dim" when i say it :p

  • Dimmi sound "too dim" for us to bother with.

If a Dimmi client "drops off their list" before mid-Feb, you could lose out.

    (Think: Scam)

  • Rep, what are the restaurants eligible to use the Dimmi reward voucher in brisbane and how long will the voucher be valid? Thanks

    • You can just look this up on the site Zeds.

  • Can anyone tell me which which restaurants in Sydney allow the use of reward voucher? Wanna make use I can use them before I sign up for an account.

  • For any Brissy folks….Era Bistro in southbank is a good place to redeem your free meal voucher….They have awesome pizzas ~$18 and great olives for ~$6 from memory…..2 pizzas and a bowl of marinated olives….beats any free dinner I have had with the missus!

  • +1

Android app doesn't work for me - won't login. Not surprised - everything else they do is cr@p. We really need Opentable to launch in AU…

  • Where about can I find all the restaurants which accept the reward vouchers? Couldnt find it, sorry

    • -2

Why should a would-be Customer e ver need to Apologise, eg, for a Big Mistake on the part of a Business.

Things are Designed to be Hard to Find for a Reason.

      • Big apparent savings: $50 (easy to find)

      • Long list of venues (advertisers ONLY, not all accept $50 voucher)

      • Small number of venues to use the $50 voucher (hard to find this out)

IMO, THIS IS -NOT- A GOOD DEAL, BUT A BELOW-STANDARD "TIME-WASTER" (& MAYBE A SCAM).

DIMMI SEEMS NOT TO BE ABLE TO CONVINCE MOST OF ITS LISTED VENUES THAT IT WORKS FOR THE, SO FEW FULLY BUY-INTO THE $50 VOUCHER.

UNTIL DIMMI CAN DO BETTER & GENUINELY LIFT THEIR GAME, OzB SHOULD -BAN- DIMMI, SO THAT OTHER MEMBERS WILL NOT WASTE TIME OR - WORSE - SPEND A LOT ON A MEAL OR TWO, ONLY TO BE DISAPPOINTED LATER.

WHEN I SEE "DIMMI" IN FUTURE, I'LL -IGNORE- ITS DEAL(S).

    • Soz for the late response zeds, just looked back on this post/saw your follow-up comment today; here's a list of the QL joints that accept the $50 voucher:
