IOBit stuff needs to be banned from OB.

    • Please check the PC Magzine for the software Reveiw. I think they got 3 stars out of 5.

Take PCmag reviews with a grain of salt. That reviewer also doesn't seem to care that the software is basically one big giant advertisement for the company's other products, and is constantly nagging to user to cough up cash for other stuff for a 'full tuneup'.

You can improve a computer's performance by closing apps and killing off uneeded background services (which is basically what IOBit is doing for you). However, you're defeating the purpose of this if you have to install a program to do it for you as IObit itself has to run in the background to 'optimise' your computer. It would also fail to account that if IOBit shut down an app that you would actually want to use, you'd have to run the program again anyway making it a pointless exercise to stop it running in the first place.

Anyone decent enough with computers could make their system more efficient with resources if they didn't accumulate junk apps on their system and make everything run automatically on boot.

Well, I am using the IOBIT for almost for 2 years now, I don't have any issues with them and it doesn't made my PC Slow either. Using their PRO version makes easy with one click clean and their other programs too good such as Uninstaller and System Defrag too is good. I am afraid got many users complaining about the software. Well I got very good response from the IOBIT and in return still my PC is running excellent.

        • @shibu-thomas:
you dont need to do the things it does - no need to defrag anymore, the problems it finds are not real problems that make any difference to your daily use of the pc.
          no need to 'clean'the computer.
All it does is make you think you are doing something good and 'tuning' the pc.

        • @PVA: lol. Your computer must be a real mess.

Avoid, this program hijacked my browsers!

This software is a known malware delivery system, paying for it could never be a bargain. It's no better than a virus.

    • +1

Please explain. Been using it for 5 years on 3 PCs without any issue.

      • I am using IOBIT for 2 years with no issues ;)

      • Please see this post from the community manager of Malwarebytes, which is one of the few pieces of software I ever install on a computer having issues. https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/120828-adva…

        • Yes, as i alluded to below, an entirely different issue from your claim that it's a "malware delivery system". I don't use Iobit as an AV and apart from Malwarebytes I wouldn't use anything which doesn't get a good rating on the two major test websites. If I was a newby I'd probably avoid Iobit based on what I read about the company - thanks to OzBargainers - but I've been using parts of it it successfully for years.

        • @Possumbly: Not sure why you are defending them so vehemently, stockholm syndrome perhaps? What are these "major test websites" out of interest, hopefully not CNET or Download.com.

        • @MoonSha: I'm not defending their practices, simply pointing out what I believe is nonsense in some of the comments, including yours. "It's no better than a virus"? I've had both and my experience suggests that's a comment from someone who knows little about either. I think it was Amar89 who alerted me to Iobit's less than pristine reputation. A genuine comment and something worth taking on board.

These "major test websites" are common knowledge to anyone who follows the AV world. I'll leave you to find them yourself because a bit of effort in research is always better than being spoonfed. Easy to find - they'll turn up in web searches and have been regularly mentioned in deal discussions on this site.

Someone dropped the ball here …how did this crap slip through?.

  • It is interesting to see results of Iobit warnings and how often overtime there is a post, And how few warnings via Google.
Other browsers may show better results, or c-net search. Any free software may have add ons that can be seen and accepted.
As usual be alert and be alarmed is you are too quick in installation and have to uninstal and clean and malware clean.

Me, not going to take up offer

Why is this virus on ozbargain?

  • +1

The initial versions were actually good. Couple of years back I had to spend lot of effort to get rid of it from my computer. Its a advertisement piece and hogs memory like anything

    • +1

It doesn't hog memory at all if you know how to use it. Even if it did you can run it when you like, no need to have it background monitoring.

  • +1

I once installed this and it spoiled my registry system. Then I had to reinstall my windows again:(

  • Please do not install any of iobit products.

  • +2

I'm sick of seeing all of this unnecessary system crap being on OzBargain lately.

  • i already have advanced system care and iobit stuff…by most of your comments i should delete it ??

    • +1

Yes you should …make a coffee first and get comfy cause it will take a while.

    • +1

Not if you're moderately computer literate and comfortable with the bits you use. Plenty of nonsense comments among the valid. Iobit itself may not be a company you want to support (Google it) but this package has some good features (which you can find elsewhere also).

      • I did, like a lot of people "try it" but it causes more issues then it fixes.

        • For example?

  • Malware. Avoid at all costs.

    • +1

Explain yourself. I know plenty of people who have used this for years without any issues, including members a computer users club.

Im using iobit uninstaller free and never had a problem

  • Licence upgrade didn't work for me. Said it was for the free edition.

    • Nuff said

      • +1

How so? It's possible that it didn't like the fact that I'm running 7 Pro. The OP should confirm that the key is not a hack and is for the PRO edition.

        • Thank God ;) @ least some one is here who know how IOBIT works and how good is this.
Well I received an email from the techno360 guys who usually sends me the giveaways and new year deals for softwares. It is not a hacked key when you enter the key it will valid your licence for 1 year full licence. No issues while updating the software and it updates the virus definition accordingly.
The below is the URL to confirm this:-

          http://www.techno360.in/category/free-stuff/

        • @shibu-thomas: I only use it for cleaning my laptops and memory, and occasionally the uninstaller. Wouldn't touch any of the other bits. Some Indian websites are not to be trusted. They use so called "promotional" keys as click bait but the keys are actually hacks. Can't recall if this mob techno360 is one of them.

  • Code seems to be on half a dozen keygen/serialz sites (Per this Google search) so I'd question legitimacy in the first place. Second, software is browser hijacking malware, which is questionable enough to warrant a neg too.
