Your $55 headset is a piece of garbage compared to this.

By that logic your $55 headset was a ripoff compared to my $2 chinese ones.

Two dollars? I was born with a free set of ears.

  • In terms of a bargain this is good, but be careful of astro's microphone, they have a notoriously bad reputation for it, search around for "a40 micrphone problems" and you'll see heaps.

However if you want the headset just for sound, i can confirm it's great, microphone, not so much.

Pretty sure that the Microphone between a40 and a50 is completely different. I have the first gen a50's and have had no issues with them whatsoever - great headset.

      • Ah, if that's the case go nuts with the sale, but I'd strongly advise against the a40, absolutely terrible microphone quality, speaking from first hand experience, RMA is also complicated due to the fact they're american and you have to ship to america.

      • I also have gen1 a50s with no problems.

        fantastic headset.
I picked mine up for $300 from mighty ape at the start of the year

    Back up to $399 :-(

  • Bought a pair a few months ago on an ebay 15% or 20% off sale for about $250. Don't know if it was gen 2 or not.

I had to return it. Its battery wouldn't charge. I could only use it with cable connected, and I got static and hissing from it.

Even if it wasn't defective I wouldn't have kept it. It just didn't feel comfortable to me. It was heavy and felt like the weight was dragging down, wanting to fall off, and my ears were the hooks holding them up. You also can't extend the band very high so if you have a long head, it won't fit that well.

I went with headphones instead with a separate mic attachment. Much more comfortable. Though still not near as comfortable as in ears.
