      I used to own a DC44 (DC45 share the same system) and now using a DC59 and I'd say it's worth that $100.
      DC59 v DC44:
      Slightly lighter
      Bin is bigger
      More suction power especially in boost mode
      Battery last longer (26 min)
      Charge faster
      New motorhead cleans better
