No deal mate. They are $24.95 normally at any Apple Store. Seen them for $19.95 at Harvey Norman aswell.

    • to be fair they are $39 at Apple.

Yes I read it wrong, I was editing my comment but you replied to it. My apologies.

        • ah right all good!

to be fair they are $39 at Apple

        how is that fair ?

        • I was referring to how usama91 was telling OP this wasn't a deal. 'to be fair' it is a deal because it is $39 at Apple.

        • @5k:

          oh…

It's still not fair to charge $39 when similar adaptors cost $2 on ebay…

        • +1

          @jv: "similar"

        • @5k:

yep, the main difference is they are not authorized, so they charge 1850% more…

        • @jv: haha ok brother then you "risk having 3 things that don't work" don't you :P
don't get me wrong I'm not suggesting you to purchase authentic or fakes, that's entirely up to you.

        • @jv:
The other difference is that they often don't work, or only work for a short period of time.

        • @robbiequinn:

they often don't work, or only work for a short period of time.

that's because apple keep breaking them with iOS updates. That doesn't justify a 1850% price premium…

I think usama91 was referring to the cable.

      • That's correct.

  • non-genuine on ebay for <$5

    • i tried a couple, and neither worked.

      • Have had success with these - Au stock and <$2.

Will it work with my FLPR though ?

Use with iPhone 5, 5S, iPod 5th Gen and iPad 4th Gen and iPad Air REQUIRES an authorized Apple lightning to 30 pin adaptor.

        • @jv:
Haven't a clue - why don't you buy one and find out.

          @duskybay:

why don't you buy one and find out.

          Then I risk having 3 that don't work…

        • @jv:
Ah, but just because they won't work with your FLPR doesn't mean that they won't work with other devices/accessories eg USB to 30 pin plug cable (for which they do work).

        • @duskybay:

I don't need it for anything else, I have plenty of cables for that…

        • Thanks,got the $2 ones :-)

  • Would this solve my problem of having a dock with the 30 Pin connector and an ipod touch with lightning? I used to have ipod classic. ie will the ipod sit on the dock and charge and play music as if it was connected directly like my classic did?

    • +1

Not if you have a case that covers the bottom of the phone…

    • +1

As Ahan mentioned, you need to take into consideration any case you have. Also, think about how high the iPhone/iPod will sit with the adapter and will it be stable/supported.

You may be better off with the 20cm cabled adapter and laying the iPhone/iPod down.

But those adapters are not on special unfortunately.

      • Ok thanks guys. I might leave it then. I still have the ipod classic which i use with the doc so i'll save my $25/$39 and just continue using that for now :)

FYI - from the research i've done, ebay cheapies will not work for audio as they do not have a DAC built into them. You will need a genuine one for audio to work.

    • Correct - this is what got me looking for the genuine ones. I've tried 2 different ebay cheapies and whilst they charge the iPhone, they would not provide the analog audio output that the old 30pin docks need.

The write up on the genuine ones are that they have a built in DAC to convert the digital audio output to analog - and this is one of the reasons for the higher price when compared to the ebay cheapies.

  • $9.95 delivery fee would kill this a bit.

  • Does anyone know if these genuine adapters can work with the 30 pin HDMI out adapters ?
