  • wasnt this $89?

    • +2

Only ones i could find was the 7" version with the worse screen resolution.
feel free to prove me wrong but i couldn't find it.

      • has BT as well (not sure if the $89 one had it)

if its a REAL 1,280 x 800 then its worth consideration

    • where can i find the $89 version? don't care too much about the screen if the specs of everything else are the same….

      • +3

        Coles and a time machine.

        • +4

i got the time machine… if only i can find a coles :)

        • +1

trust me, the $89 wasn't that good, i had it only a day & end up refunded.

        • @vin021079:

Would like to return mine too but it's been more than 30 days. :(

        • Someone called?

      • +1

Australia post is now selling the 7" model for $10 more, $99.
        http://catalogue.auspost.com.au/offer/ipads-tablets/pendopad…

        • thanks for that… now that someone pointed out the 7" only have a usb port for charging where as the 8" have the usb for OTG and a separate charging connection push me to getting the 8"

  • The 7 inch screen is terrible but it should be fine if you plug it to TV.

The $89 7 inch comes with BT.

Just so you guys know 16GB of storage + office leaves you roughly 2GB of free storage left, and that is also going to be taken up when Windows requires to update or when your cache for your apps grow in size.

    • This man speaks the truth. Though Windows is very good at using SD cards.

    • storing music and movies on it would be difficult.
according to the reviews on target website it comes with OTA cable which is hand to use flash drivers and external hard drives.
or you can use the sd card slot.

      • err buy a 64Gb sd card?

does anyone expect to honestly use the 16Gb inbuilt mem to store heaps of data?

        • WimBoot would make it possible.

        • not sure it will support a 64gb

        • @aacheney:
WimBoot is for the internal eMMC.

Reluctant to give this a go because of the storage. Most of the reviews I've read on various windows tablets products seem to indicate you need at least 32gb.

  • is this better or worse than the HP Stream http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NSHLVD2?pldnSite=1#produ… ?? I like to get it locally but the HP brand is probably more respected (which does not mean it's better)

    • Worse. Get the HP instead. 32GB ROM.

    • HP has more internal storage — a major plus, but both the Stream 7 and Stream 8 lack a HDMI output meaning you will have to rely on other methods, MiraCast or a USB OTG to HDMI adapter to connect to a monitor.

    • I had the $89 7" Pendo, accidentally dropped it a couple weeks later, then bought the new HP G2 Plus from Officeworks for $129. Wish I had just bought that in the first place, the screen on the Pendo was just horrible in the terms of contrast and viewing angle. Also I think I prefer Android as a tablet os but that's just my personal preference.

    • I'd like to see the hp stream 8 on display at dick smith but as yet the stores I have tried don't have a display model.

  • When does this price apply from? , website still says $199. Don't want to travel 50km to find it's not on special

Catalog starts from the 15th to the 21st

    Android ftw

Is it just me or is it tagged as an Android tablet on the tag system?

    • Idk why that is there i only done windows 8,pendo pad, computer, tablet

When i go to edit it doesnt show android
      Idk how to fix.

      • +1

I think it is the system auto correcting things :P
Meh, I've reported it to the mods, they will do things to it :P

      • It's been marked as the Android 8" tablet, look in the right column.

    • +1 for "Android"

  • Does it have GPS, or can it recieve GPS from my iPhone hotpsot?

If you are going to use this for anything other than a toy you are better off looking for or waiting for an alternative model that has at least 2GB ram, and 32gb RAM, Like a voyo or something.

    • +1 I got a Toshiba Encore a few weeks ago. With 2GB of ram the thing runs like a dream. 32GB is also plenty once you convert it to WimBoot install and whack a cheap SD card in.

  • Good price. Last night my mother was thinking about buying this for her grandkids to use for games. This however wouldn't make a very good tablet for a child because Minecraft is not on the Windows Store. How lame. It's however on the Google Play store so Android Tablets are in.

    • They've just recently introduced minecraft (not that I play) to the windows phone store.

      http://www.windowsphone.com/en-au/store/app/minecraft-pocket…

I couldn't locate it in the windows tablets and pc store which is seperate. Hopefully things like this will improve with the introduction of universal apps and windows 10.

      • Microsoft owns Mojang now, so I'm sure Microsoft will put some priority into making it available on tablet store.

  • For some reason the Pendo Pad 8" Windows 8.1 tablet is still priced at $199 online but the Pendo Pad 10" Quad Core Android tablet listed on the same page in the Target catalogue is currently being priced at $149 online. I wonder what gives. The sale is meant to start on Thursday but the Android tablet is already $149 online.

  • It's $129 online now. I just ordered one to play around with. I wonder if I'll be able to get Windows 10 Tech Preview to run on it?

  • Its also live on there eBay store, still free shipping as its over $75

  • My mother just got the Pendo Pad 10" Android version and after pealing off the plastic screen protection i noticed that there's a screen defect (multiple large round spots on the screen panel itself). Now she has to take it back to Target. How does some thing like that get through Quality Assurance testing. Makes me wonder.

    • You get what you pay for. (Quality assurance not included)

      • Would you believe it my mother just got a replacement and it also has round spots on the screen panel and now she's had to go back to the store again. Apparently it's air bubbles under the protective screen layer but that's a manufacturing defect. Must be a bad batch come in at the Target store. What's the bet another replacement has exact same sort of round spots on the screen. It is the white version which she has.

    • Do you honestly think every single product that gets pushed out of a factory gets individual in-depth inspection? No. No company does.

  • Pendo Pad 8" Windows 8.1 tablet is currently $109 delivered on the Target eBay store using a discount coupon code. Pity about those who already ordered it on the Target online store or in store for the $129. Maybe going to be kicking themselves since this is Ozbargain and could have saved a whopping $20 back in the wallet.

    • Can always return it. My Target one arrived this morning, so I ordered another with the ebay deal. Will return one back to Target unless my GF wants it.

  • Has anyone ever successfully create image of the system (C:) drive off this tablet and restore it? Can disk imaging like Norton Ghost be used to backup and restore the system image on this tablet?

Unlike notebook PC with hard drive, I don't think this tablet contains rescue partition or has option to create rescue disc.

I am sure it will be handy to be able to reset to factory setting in case someday Win 8.1 won't boot at all!

    • have a look at this post
      http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/threads/step-by-step-guide-t…

I used it as a rough guide and have created a backup of all the drive partitions. I haven't tried restoring from the images though.

Am in the process of trying to convert to a wimboot install so will see how it goes

    • I was wondering the same thing I just got the 7" for $89 from Coles it has a hidden 4.88gb recovery partition,i imagine the 8" would have a similar setup,i couldn't find any reference to it in the included instructions but it does have a small reset pinhole on the side, it shouldn't be too hard to initiate a system restore
