Stumbled across a trolley full of Lift and Fanta 1.25l for 50 cents/bottle. Upon closer inspection the date on the bottles are 31/12/14 and 30/12/14 - assuming 'Best Before'. I bought one of each.
Expired Lift or Fanta 1.25l $0.50 @ Woolworths Glen Waverley VIC

hmmmmmmm, yummmmmmmm, expired sugaaaaaaaar!
Cordial's cheaper.
Reminded me of when I used cordial to write my name on a fence on a warm summers day. When I came back later my name was spelled out in crawling ant font.
now you have an army of ant minions who worship you at your disposal lol
Only if your dad picks the fruit to make it.
Back when I used to have 30minute 'play times', we used to sing that song, except dad was picking something else.
Very convenient if you are Broden. Just takes off the price tag and take the trolley to the register.
haha, well thats smart thinking.
…take the trolley home.
Expired soft drink?! Only natural ingredients expire.
If there was any to begin with
When it comes down to the basic ingredients, soft drinks are just water and sugar. Neither of them expire.
What can happen after a while though is that the drinks goes flat, which is the whole point for best before.
Is this really a bargain? If it wasn't past its best before date then yes it would be but how do you classify this kind of item?
JV I need your help.Normally after how many days of the "Best Before" you can't legally sell it anymore?
I think it would be hard to put a legal restriction on when a best before expired product is totally unfit for sale.
Think, best before on some bakery items, and the best before on a soft drink. After one month, the soft drink may just be a little flat, but the bakery goods would be completely inedible by most standards.Very true, i guess situation like this just comes down to the consumer. Would you take the risk, the diarrhoea risk, haha…
Its a grey area. See the below website. Basically if it makes you sick then they cannot sell it anymore. e.g. don't sell Fanta that was made 30 years ago.

Most foods have a best before date. You can still eat foods for a while after the best before date as they should be safe but they may have lost some quality. Foods that have a best before date can legally be sold after that date provided the food is fit for human consumption.
Grey area, indeed. Thanks for the link!:)
30 y.o. fanta would be a collector's item by now ;)
Might be a collectables ants nest too.
@ATangk: aged ant care facility lol
It doesn't look like they've replaced the barcode, so you could take one that isn't expired from the shelf and it should still scan up at $0.50 because the UPC is the same.
wow, to be honest i'm surprised woolworths would even sell this to customers.
Yea… they should give out for FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE lol
Yes, they should. But if that happens, people will wait for their "FREE CLEARANCE SALE" lol…

Fairly sure the dates are actually Production dates.
If you say so…10 day old soft drinks on Clearance???
since when woollies becomes reject shop?
since this
Need to get some my in-laws are visiting.
I assume it's "best before" cause it is illegal to sell foods after a 'use-by' date.
