Deals Direct - Sheffield Bench Top Dishwasher $249 ($100 off Today Only)

100

Just received an email from Deals Direct with this Sheffield Bench Top Dishwasher (White or Silver) for $249 today only, which represents $100 off their standard price.

We have one at home and think it is awesome (especially since we are renting and could not get a standard dishwasher installed), so thought I would share here.

Shipping is variable, but I know there are plenty of Deals Direct codes about the place.

Virtually the same price (delivered ~$270) as on their Ebay site, the cheapest was $240.57 delivered in Dec.

    • What made it $240 at the time? boxing day sale? coupons? I don't mind waiting a bit for a cheaper price.

I presume the 15% off deal they had at the time, I was only looking at the Ebay price history.

Wow, I never knew something like this existed. I'm renting as well so this is exactly what I'm looking for.

For the OP and anyone who owns this, can I please get a review of the unit?

ie. Pros and cons, installation (do I need to have a plumber instal a separate inlet or something?), noise level, chances of failing, how clean it cleans dishes etc.

    Thank you!

I got one of these about 2.5 years ago. we use it every day, at least once. depending on the wash cycle you choose it can take any where from 30 minutes to 2 hours mostly i just use the hour and a half cycle.

We have it sitting on top of our washing machine (the kitchen is right next to the laundry) it uses the same connectors as a standard mashing machine so all the plumbing is there. is has gotten a little louder over the two years so now we have to close the door if we are watching TV, but for the $250 i paid for it I'm really happy with it.

      • Thanks for that. I'm glad it's positive feedback like most that's on the site.

Problem is I will be putting this next to the kitchen sink and my washing machine is nowhere near. Is there any way to make sure I have the right connections? Is it relatively trouble free when installing it myself or should I pay a plumber to do it?

        • It would be really easy to install if you have the right outlet. but if you are unsure get a plumber in to have a look he may even be able to just suggest an adapter rather than installing a new outlet.

        • You can use it with the kitchen sink.

For the water input: You can use it if your tap has a thread on it or you are using a mixer tap (you can buy an adapter from a hardware store for like $10) which you just screw on.

For the water output: Hang the hose over the tap so it drains into the sink.

The only negative part about this is that you have to attach and un-attach every time you want to do a cycle so that you can use the sink as per normal.

          NO PLUMBER REQUIRED.

        • I installed one of these at our beach house and it sits on the end of the bench hooked up to the cold tap with a t-piece and a washing machine cock with the inlet hose running around the back of the bench and the outlet hose going through a (convenient) hole in the wall to an external drain. Very dodgy I know…

The machine works well, we rinse the dishes and run it on the 30 minute cycle and it does a better job than my 20 year old dishlex at home.

        • @craftypaper:

Damn. I don't have threads on my tap and even if I did I still need to use the tap for other things very often so having to hook and unhook every time I use the dishwasher would be too much hassle.

Looks like I'm looking at another $100 or so for the plumber to hook this up…not as tempted now.

          @choofa:

By t-piece do you mean on the end of the tap? So you can turn the tap on and still use it for other things without disconnecting the connection to the dishwasher?

        • If you are comfortable turning off the water at the front tap and screwing in a fitting from Bunnings you can save the $100.
T-piece would likely go before the tap, or under the sink depending on your setup.

        • @Wolfy: True, but there's a chance he goofs something up and ruins his kitchen.Surely you at least know a friend or relo who can help who knows what he's doing?

  • Lots of positive reviews on the desktop site. Hit the swith to full site button then click on the review tab to have a look.

Personally, I've got a full sized so don't need one in the house.. but I should buy one just in case! (Like many other ozbargain purchases) haha

  • For me, Included delivery it bumps the price up to $300.
So Ebay DealDirects will be cheaper for me, included delivery $280.

  • Just bought for $280 delivered to Perth, using the 10% off 'lovedeals' code.
Thanks OP - have been in the market for this or the omega version on appliances online. Both have great reviews and at this price couldn't resist.

  • I have the omega version from appliances online and can't fault it. I assume this is pretty similar. Perfect for renting. Make sure you've got the taps to fit it - as mentioned above. I just leave my permanently attached to the cold tap (it was a screw thread like for a dishwasher attachment). Sort of like the size of a giant microwave - so it does dominate half of the kitchen bench.
It does a pretty good job of dishes. Bit noisey sometimes but very happy with it.

Similar item (different brand) $259 delivered if you live in SE Major Capitals.
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/121526008105
Same energy/water ratings, 2yr vs 1yr warranty, but can't find any reviews of this cheaper brand.

  • I have 27.5cm plates. Bugger! Was hoping this would be ideal.

I bought this exact same unit for $229 or $249 including delivery about less than a year ago….

bought a T piece & install it myself (make a hell mess while the tap wasn't install properly :-P)
but overall, happy with it, but at this price I will say it's just normal price, not a bargain!
and definitely not worth $349 or selling at $349

    • lol, I get -NEG again for commenting, I shouldn't have told anyone we could get it cheaper..and had good experience with it! I love OzBagainer!
