[RESOLVED] Wireless Issues on Laptop

I have recently bought ASUS A53E laptop. I restored laptop to factory settings yesterday but it not picking available wireless networks now. Internet is working fine with Ethernet cable however when I disconnect this cable, there is no network available even though the wireless light is Green on my latop.

It was working perfectly before re-installing windows.

Can someone please assist to troubleshoot this issue?

Thanks in Advance!

  • Sounds like driver issues. Usually Windows find the driver really well, but sometimes you need to install them manually.

Why don't you try going to the Asus website and look for the drivers for the wireless card?

    • Thanks, I had a quick look and found that only Ethernet is appearing under Network Adapter within Device Manager.

How to find which wireless model I have as there are various drivers available on Asus link provided by you.

      • Do you know what your laptop model is?

I don't know what your laptop exactly is, so use that page to find your model, and search it up on google to see what wireless card it uses.

Or I found Driver Booster by IObit fairly useful. I think they have a free version, (I was lucky enough to get a Pro version for free) so download that? It will probably help you with other potential driver issues as well.

        • Laptop model is A53E.

        • @bluecasper: If you look at the sticker like the website I've linked you says, it should give you more than just A53E. There are variants of that model and they have slightly different hardwares at least I assume so with that many drivers available, this is why I wanted you to look at the page and find the model name, not just the series name.

          For example:
          A53E-XA2
          A53E-XE2

If you google the model name, they usually give you the name of the wireless card it uses.

Or as I said before, use the IObit Driver Booster, it should update your drivers.

  • A sticker underneath your laptop will tell you what model it is.

Alternatively, it is possible to find out what Wifi chip you're using simply by unscrewing the service panel that is housing the Wifi chip and looking at it directly.

  • What channel is your wi-fi access point on?

  • +2

I installed Atheros drivers for Window 7 64 bit and I have been able to access internet via Wifi now.

    Thank you everyone and Ozbargain!!!
