The customer reviews on "Caller ID" are compelling!

    • the GUI looks shabby too.

Thought I'd test caller ID because none of them work in OZ. This one just say server is down, regardless of which country you select. Useless!

        • Same for me

  • Thanks

Now we just need a new thread to be made for each app!

  • Thanks OP - would be nice to provide links directly to the Aus App Store - just change the /us/ to /au/ in the URLs.

    • +1

I tried as you suggested but none of the links work afterwards. I don't own any iDevice and I am unfamiliar with the correct country specific URLs. The /us/ specifier seemed to make no difference to iTunes on my PC — it opened the Australian store unless I explicitly change country.

Thanks Op. Whilst it's great that they're currently free, are any of these apps any good though?

    • Doesn't look like it

actually Gismeteo is good… looks like it is displaying data accurately(at least for now)…interface is really professional…will keep an eye for couple of days before switching to it for good..

        • +1

It doesn't appear to take data from the BOM - so it's a no deal for me despite the beautiful interface :-(

        • @Flying Ace: how do you know it's not from BOM?

        • @expertreader:
Today's BOM forecast for Melbourne is 41. Gismeteo: 34 (also on their website http://www.gismeteo.com/city/daily/14448/ but they don't mention an external source).

          Definitely not BOM.

          @expertreader:

The are only a handful of Australian weather apps that take their data from the BOM. Most (all?) "global" weather apps, such as Gismeteo, seem to take their data from AccuWeather - I'm not sure where AccuWeather get their data from because it's always pretty inaccurate.

        • Doesn't use BOM data and seems very inaccurate. I prefer pocket weather AU. Still the best app out there!

      CallerID Customer Reviews:
      Nope, doesn't work

      by Ron1981

Good idea but it doesn't work in the 3 countries I've visited. Always says "data is private or no data" with every search result.
      Doesn't work

      by Jchaparro

Tried searching a few numbers and names from the U.S and none of them worked.
Sounded too good to be true

      by _Rad_C

And it is. I could not find any number that I knew already, nor any name. Even for institutions, which are never private. Good thing it was free…

    Australian Links:

    Gismeteo
    Active Voice
    MyKees Keyboard for iPad
    ZONR
    ARPhoto
    Caller ID
    peaches
    Typesetter
    Bubble Text Keyboard

To go to the Australian website change 'us' to 'au' and insert the name of the app after '/app' and before '/id'

    • Thanks for the links. I learned something new today! Any idea why the name of the app is required for the Aussie store but not the US?

      • Sorry, not sure.

      • It is not required for any store. You can use a link like this one:
        https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/id931229641?mt=8

        where:
        au - store country
        931229641 - unique app id.

        • Urmm, did they change it after I posted the links, because when I tried replacing us with au it didn't work (now it works but before it didn't…)
