Fuji Nevada 1.9 29" Wheel Mountain Bike Half Price @ Amart Sports Now $274.50

110

Was looking for cheap(ish) bike to cycle with the kids and came across this deal at Amartsports. It's available in various frame sizes as well if you ask in store. Unfortunately, there's not a great deal of technical info in the product description for the serious cyclists out there, however I've listed it below anyway:

Ideal for the adventurous rider, the Fuji Nevada 29 1.9 Mountain Bike features fast-rolling 29" wheels for more efficient performance. It also features Shimano Altus 21 speed gearing with mechanical disc brakes for great stopping power and suspension forks for added comfort. The rugged alloy frame is highly durable and ready to ride with you wherever you go.

29" fast-rolling wheels for efficient performance
Shimano Altus 21 speed gearing
Mechanical disc brakes for all-weather stopping power
Suspension forks provide excellent shock absorption on all terrain
Durable rugged alloy frame

Probably need either an actual bike mechanic or a very handy person to check/assemble the bike.

Department store bike mechanics ain't exactly the cream of the crop, if they can be described as bike mechanics at all.

Eitherwise, seem like a good price for an entry level 29er.

    • Think this is the correct link as it's the 1.9 model: http://www.fujibikes.com/bike/details/nevada-29-19

      • Thanks, misread the OP.

Probably not as a good deal now with the tourney group.

Probably can get similar Reid 29er at this price.

depends on the actual store as to who is building the bikes. I bought my Flight mtb from a Goldcross within Amart. The mechanic used to be a regular Ironman competitor until he was diagnosed with a pretty serious heart condition. He still rides regularly and definitely knows his bikes.

      • Maybe you got a better Goldcross. My local Goldcross closed down and reopened in a Amart. The only guy that they kept was the manager, who now runs the bike department in Amart and I seen him assembling the bikes. None of the actual bike mechanics from Goldcross transferred over, and it was clear that the manager isn't exactly mechanically minded.

  • Good price, there is also this 650B for $249.50 which has hydraulic disc brakes which is a bonus.

  • Can anyone recommend where I can find something like this in WA?

    Thanks

    • ok no Amart here anymore, Rebel will probably have similar sale soon

WARNING!!! These aren't Fuji's! They are 'Ideal Bicycle Company'. A frame maker in China.

While they are reasonable bikes, the frame geometry feels awkward and isn't that refined.

BUT!!! You CANNOT sell these even if you tried. List it on Gumtree and even the lowballers offer you money to delete the ad. That's how unwanted they are. If you want to get rid of it, your best off riding it into a wall then claiming it on your insurance.

    • FYI,most bikes selling here are made in China and assembled locally. Designed by USA; Taiwan brand or sth like this.

      • No… I mean they are re-labelled. As far as I can tell you can buy exactly the same bike in China. Fuji just slaps a label on it and that's it.

        • But still Fuji honored the quality of that made, right? Otherwise it won't shown up in local stores with the logo sticker? If you are one of the victim, that's another story.

        • @sqypan:

          WTF… I think you've had too much NYE cheer…

I bought it reasonably cheap, the quality was actually pretty damn good to be honest. Just the frame geometry and trying to re-sell it is what got me.

        • @kronicmacstigator:

That's a 29er. You'll feel awkward if the frame size smaller than 19inch or you're below 180cm in most cases.

          http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/bexley/bicycles/mountain-bike…

I'm not sure if that's your ad or not on gumtree. But better to have camera focus and taking to a bright outdoor environment. And most importantly to delete all your previous posts relating to the bike.

Good luck with your sell anyway and happy new year.

        • @kronicmacstigator:
If that's not your bike, y u saying all the frame geo awkward sh*t. You haven't even try it. Not all giant are in good control and fuji doesn't sell one type of model only that you bought. STOP SPAMMING.

    • ummm..

Maybe you should have found a bike that fitted you?

Different brands, different models, different sizes, all have different geometries. Some people got longer arms, shorter arms, longer legs, shorter legs, longer torso, shorter torso. Some prefer an aggressive stance, some more relaxed, some plant their butts on the saddle, other stand on the pedals.

The frame geometry isn't the problem, you just didn't buy one that suited you.

  • Shimano Altus 21 speed gearing

No, one part (rear derailler) is Altus, while the rest is cheaper supermarket-grade parts.
The gears are a freewheel, not a cassette, which is a bad idea in a MTB as they are prone to breaking.

The best you could say is that the price is appropriate. To call it half price is to call their customers stupid.
If you actually intend to go off-road, spend a bit more for cassette gears and a double-wall rim.
Otherwise, it does look pretty. Will make a good garage ornament.
