David Jones Delivery Experience for FHD TV

Hello All,

Anyone have experience with David Jones delivery recently? Is the estimated delivery date accurate?

I have bought a FHD TV from DJ Online in the recent sale and trying to track the delivery. Apparently DJ cannot advise the delivery status as the delivery is managed by Dick Smith. I can only wait for Dick Smith rep to call.

Any comment would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Dick Smith has taken over the electronics at DJ - you need to speak to the electronics counter at the store you purchased it from and get them onto it.

  • Thanks Islund. I bought it online hence called and emailed DJ Online. Strangely DJ's system and Dick Smith is not connected and DJ reps' response is always "we cannot do anything about it, just wait for the call". If this is the case, shouldn't all queries related to DJ electronics be diverted to Dick Smith?

    Any update? Estimated time of delivery shown on my order (ie today 5/1/15) came and gone. No one from DS contacted me yet.

  • Nothing yet. Although I called up DJ Online and was told that QLD and VIC today got a delivery to the DS warehouse of 50" Sony TVs. I was also informed that essentially that whole batch has been allocated, and there are some people who will not have their order dispatched from that delivery. Emails from DS should be coming tomorrow (7th Jan) I believe. Hopefully us OzB'ers are the lucky ones and get our orders dispatched in the first lot.

    NSW still haven't had their big delivery yet to the warehouse or something.

    Received the TV few minutes ago. DSE/DJ did not call. No email. StarTrack Express just turned up at my front door. Luckily I was at home.

    DSE/DJ very poor service! Not a happy customer!

  • Thanks for letting me know. I got a phone call earlier today (from DJ) explaining that my TV should be dispatching today and arriving tomorrow. No email from DJ or DSE, so who knows.

    Did get this however in an email today from DJ:

    At least you received a phone call from DJ. DJ promised to get back to me since last week but never call. No email. Nothing from DJ or DSE.

    Just tested the TV. Excellent product. Unfortunately the whole shipping experience will make me think twice about buying from DJ again.

    Will write a review at DJ's website tonight.

  • I also have not received this TV yet.

    I purchased it through David Jones online at 3:52pm on 24/12. It stated on the order details that estimated delivery is on the 5th Jan.

    I have been predominantly spending my time at home for the last 3 days anticipating this delivery.

    Called DJ today a 11:50am to find out whats going on. I was told by the helpful sales assistant that she will get back to me later today with more information, as she needs to contact Dick Smith in Sydney.

    I have also received an email (yesterday) asking to write a review on their website.

    Considering the delay I'd be pissed off (like Bargainer - see above) if the delivery arrived a) while not at home and b) without a simple phone call to make sure someone is home.

    edit: I'd like to point out that at no stage over the last 3 days has DJ contacted me to inform me of any delay (very poor customer service).

    Will post the feedback from DJ once I receive it.

    Hello Rockford,

    DJ Online Rep promised to call back and provide update on Monday (5/1/15), she never kept her promise. I hope you have a better luck.

    Also I noticed that the delivery docket don't have my mobile number. So, if the TV got delivered and no one at home, there is no way the delivery person will be able to contact me.

    I have left my comments regarding poor service but excellent TV. I would assume that they will filter the comment. Anyway, will not be purchasing from DJ anytime soon.

      by any chance do they give you a receipt with the delivery? My concern is that if i get my order in say 2 weeks time then that's 3 weeks off the warranty that has already passed.

        What I was given is not actually receipt. It's a delivery docket without any details of the TV on it! It has cubic metres and weight only!

    Hey,

    So I kinda gave up on DJ, and just went straight to calling DS.
    Called Dick Smith at: 1300 366 644

    Said I didn't have an order number handy, and gave them my email address I used for DJs (also didn't mention I was calling about a DJ order), and the guy found my order almost straight away using that email address.

    He also gave me a consignment number which tells me on the StarTrack website that the order is being picked up today and an ETA of tomorrow for delivery. (RE: Melbourne)

    Finally, something solid suggesting that Ill get the TV soon.

      Just did the same by calling that number.

      Unfortunately for me the TV is on back order "due to overwhelming demand" and they are hoping to have the stock next week.

      When I provided my email address, the Dick Smith assistant gave me a different order number than the order number from David Jones.

      Both David Jones & Dick Smith have said they will escalate my order.

      Funny that like you, I have been able to get info out of Dick Smith and yet the assistant at David Jones has not yet contacted me back with regard to my order.

      • Ok, so the lovely lady at David Jones just got back to me and told me what I already knew with regard to the backorder. She did add that delivery is expected early next week, which is good news. I asked her about the warranty period being affected by the delay and she suggested to keep the delivery sheet and attach it to the receipt in case of a claim. She also put a note on their system with regard to delayed delivery.

        Will see how this pans out.

          My guess is the DJ don't know what kind of paper work DS is issuing to the customers. So keep all the records including the discussion in this forum for future reference.

        • @Barginer: Good advice, will do. Ill save this page as a pdf.
          Last thing you'd want is to have to make a claim and find out the warranty had expired by a week or 2. I know there's consumer laws around this stuff anyway but I just want the piece of mind and don't want to be screwed over by technicalities with warranties like delayed delivery due to backorder.

    • After all that excitement, turns out the TV wasn't picked up from the warehouse today according to the Startrack tracking website.

      Oh well. At least I know where it is.

    The feeling of not knowing when the TV will arrive is the worst part. Now that DogGunn has figured out how to get the info, I would think that is will be more "bearable". The whole purchasing experience will be much more pleasant if DJ just provide us the the contact at DS and not getting involved. With DS taking over DJ electronic department, the process and delivery protocol should be reviewed.

    In any case, I am sure you will enjoy your new Sony TV when it arrives.

  • Finally took delivery today of my TV. Great TV it is!
    Note, no email from DS (or DJ for that matter) like I was told by both DJ and DS over the phone. Had to call up for the tracking number as mentioned before.

    As with Barginer however, I am disappointed with the performance of David Jones and Dick Smith in this. Hopefully they'll fix up the process for the future.

  • I purchase mine 24PM as well but just got a call from DJ to tell me the TV is on back order and that they are not expecting shipment until the 27th Jan. I'm not happy as the purchase was a present for my dad! I am expecting a call back to discuss my situation tomorrow!! All this time, I thought DJ was a reputable merchant!! 1 month+ delay is not good enough.

      I got a feeling that the delay is due to the additional process (which I think is unnecessary) of DJ confirming your delivery and payment details prior to releasing your TV. So, whoever call first to confirm the details will be allocated a TV…not when you placed the order and pay for it.

      Like yourself, I thought DJ is a reputable merchant with good service but it surprises me when DJ are unable to organised itself to track items it sold on its own website. Might as well leave everything to DS.

      • I got a call the same evening of my purchase to confirm all my details. Paid with my amex for the $30 rebate that I already have. Money has been long taken so I don't think that is the problem. My issue now is that all the good boxing day TV specials are over now so I'm stuck with a difficult decision.

        DJ experience has been very poor so far. I've had to chase them up 3 times before eventually they stopped stringing me along with "should be delivered early next week!!"

        • That's strange, not sure how they prioritise delivery then.

          Very true about missing out other good deal during Boxing Day. Should have bought from DS directly and you might be able to get the TV earlier.

        • I also got another call from DJ last night around 6pm ish saying that stock wont arrive to the DS warehouse till the 27h Jan. That was not their initial response which was delivery would be early next week. So I'm stuck with the decision of cancelling or waiting. Not my lounge room TV so no big deal, but would like to get my hands on it while on holidays. Hopefully some other deals come up that may be worthwhile pursuing.

      FWIW DJ never called me back as promised. I'm so over the whole DJ experience. Looking back, I should have gone with the slightly smaller and cheaper Sony TV from the Good Guys during the boxing day sales but too late for that now. NOT HAPPY DJ!!!

        Have you tried leaving feedback on the DJ's Customer Feedback page? Provide the name of person who promised to give you a call to discuss your situation but failed to do so as part of your feedback. My guess is that it is the same person who promised to do the same for me but no response at the end.

        • I didn't chase them up today but they did call me just then. Better late than never. Anyway I explained the situation that all the good boxing day sales are over so cancelling wouldn't do me any good. Eventually was offered a $50 goodwill DJ refunds card. Oh well either way wasn't going to get a good deal on a TV now so I accepted. Guess I'll just wait it out now.
