  • writing speed : 5mb is not so impressive, postage?

    • Don't think Aldi does postage…

    • I'm guessing there's no ALDI in your state, they're the budget or 'value' version of Woolies and Coles.

And a 5MB/s write speed is terrible, it would take 10 minutes to transfer 3GB which is too much for me. This is pretty standard speed for cheap USB drives though, same as the Kingston Data Travelers, etc.

Looking at their website, Christmas advertising has begun it seems.

  • It doesn't look to be so cheap. I'll go for:

  • +1

MSY has Kingston (slow x'fer speed) sticks for $19 …. still for the convenience factor this is a good price. Most Aldi shoppers will probably make price comparisons with Kmart (et.al) who will no doubt be selling 8GB for closer to $50+ …I'm sure they will be snapped up quickly.

  • 9289.com.au has 8GB Kingston Data Traveller for $20 with free delivery. Got one last week.

edit: seems they're sold out of what i got, which must have been a gen 1 model. gen 2 is there for $24.00 delivered. Still a better brand.

  • i think we can get 16gb usb from ebay about aud$22 including shipping… yeah true no brand but u got double cap

  • People here don't generally compare store offers with what you see on eBay (unless, maybe, it's an eBay store). The other concern was the reports about USB sticks bought off eBay which did not have the actual capacity advertised, though the sticks were hacked to think they did have that capacity, typically leading to corrupted files rather than 1/2 capacity good files.
