It would be great!
Place has 3 main rooms with a capacity of around ~75 in total. Plus I hear they have cheap beer! (Believe it or not, I did not drink on both nights :D ) And video games.
I think hanging around video game controllers while conversing is better than hanging around pinball machines (they are mostly single-player experiences :D ).
Beta Bar gets a thumbs up from me!
Do we submit our entries here?
Yes.
any update on who the winners are?
Sorry, we just finished up our monthly OzBargain meeting. We have selected your entry. Congrats. I'll PM you shortly.
Ok here goes
One NYE, our parents took my cousins, my brother and I to a 'dinner dance', basically a party where people eat dinner and dance to band/dj music. As kids, they were never much fun, so we would go out exploring looking for stuff to do. One occasion we came across a cricket ground which was near the venue so being cricket fanatics we decided to check it out. Next to the grandstand was a small cemetery and upon inspecting the graves, we found one with a cricket scorecard on it, from a match featuring the person depicted on the tombstone. We theorised that the person played for the club at the ground we were near and that the scoresheet was from his last innings. He unfortunately, like Bradman, had scored 0 in his (supposed) last dig. That was kinda interesting and serendipitous and to this day when my cousins and I remember New Years gone by, we reflect on the strange occasion where we found a cricket scorecard at a gravesite..It all started back in the day, we had just all just graduated high school. My sister was away on her honey moon and I had free reign over her small unit. As you do as a teenager I decided to throw a new years eve party unbeknownst to my sister and my new brother in law.
So the invites went out via text message, back in those days Facebook was just a US start up and I hadn't joined the popular Myspace yet.
With my best mate as my right hand man we got the party organised and waited for the guests to arrive.
It was about 8pm when the guests started to arrive and by then my best mate had been drinking since midday and was well beyond his way and by 9pm passed out in my sisters spare bedroom leaving me to control the chaos that was unfolding.
By 11pm the guests had doubled from the expected 15 to well over 60, all trying to fit into a tiny unit and the accompanying drive way. By the time it was midnight we had two people taken to hospital, one for a broken ankle in attempt to jump over the neighbour's fence and another for being attacked by the neighbours' Pomeranian.
After 2am the casualties had risen to four people in hospital and two visits from the police. At this stage I thought it best to call it a night and kick everyone one out.
Conveniently at 3am my best mate came around and started drinking again.
The house is completely intact and almost spotless after I had disposed of most of the bottles of alcohol.
Until this day he doesn't believe how many people turned up to the party and I still can't believe nothing belonging to my sister was knocked off or broken.
Thanks OzBargain.
Turned out to be a fun night filled with many board games and video games.Drinks were okay-ishly priced considering they had 20% off all night.
We stayed until about 2:30 am.
Glad to hear!
And for once the number of entrees exceeds the number of prizes available? That's nuts! (But I can't go anyways, got work)
Neil, I'd like to thank you for holding the previous giveaways. My friends and I had a blast, all while having fun knocking each other about with Joust and whatnot. Without it, I would have never known about this great place - now I don't want to go to regular bars anymore!
Cheers,
Silver
