Original price of $9.75, on special for $6.75 but marked down on clearance for $5.00.
It doesn't beat the 3 for $10 on the regular syrups but is still quite reasonable.
Plenty of stock (30+) of the "Naturals" but only a handful of the Classics left.
They were still scanning at $6.75 so point it out to the staff at the checkout.
It'd be great to see if this was Ballarat only or national.
Also be aware they are short dated with an expiry of Feb 2015. Mind you, I'd be very surprised if these deteriorated in any way.

- Soda stream is more expensive than generic drink which is all it tastes like
- there's still waste so you can't claim the environment
- there's an initial investment in the machine
- it takes up storage space
- it's more effort in making the drink and refilling the cartridges
If they offered brand name syrups then the story would change but I can't see any upside to the machine. In saying that the wife and I have bought one and inevitably given up on it due to average tasting drinks for a silly price tag (compared to it buying coke when we bought it) and almost immediately regretted it, we also bought a heap of syrups to try all the flavours since they didn't sell the trial packs then.
but I can't see any upside to the machine.
It might make sense if you drank a lot of soda water ?
like i do, i dont make them everyday since the small number of our households. so one cylinder could last for 1 year or almost.
They also have half price spare 60L gas cylinders which come with a spare carbonating bottle too… $24.50 from memory
We have one and we love it. The plus we see is that I can control the amount of syrup, and hence sugar in the kid's mix, as well as ours. Usually much less sugar in our mix than a regular bottle of soft drink. The flavours are pretty nice. I hate the taste of Coke myself, but the Sodastream Cola is not too bad, and the Dr Pete (Dr Pepper) is great, and the Sodastream variety of this drink is much cheaper than real Dr Pepper (if you can find that).
There are upsides, but yes, to make it "comparable" in price, you have to get all the components on sale, like 3 for $10 Syrup bottles and cheap gas refill :)
We like most of the syrups we have tried so far, except for Orange and the Lemon one, but taste is purely subjective of course.
Wud it work with cordial? Its much cheaper
It works with anything really. You just add your flavour AFTER you have carbonated the water. Lots of people use cordial, but you would likely need to use much more cordial than the syrup (less concentrated) although some of the super concentrated cordials work well. We just wait until the syrups are like 3 for $10 or 3 for $12 and stock up. At those prices, they are comparable to cordial mixes, and arguably the Sodastream syrups taste much better (plus you can get more, and different flavours). Some people say Bickfords cordials work well, but I haven't tried those. But you can use real fruits, or cocktail mixes or whatever you like really. You just can't carbonate pre-mixed flavours in the bottle. Have to add the flavour after the carbonation.
Why would you bother when you can just buy soft drinks cheaper than that anyway…
