  I just read at ps3hax that there going to put region lock on some of the games at steam, I wonder if the games we are buying will be region locked one day

    All games were region locked a day or 2 before the sale started.

      The company released some information saying that they were region locking games now, much as companies once did with DVD's. They stated the cause as a falling Russian Ruble.

      As of the Xmas Auction, they (with the developers) region locked a heap of games, but only effects those purchased from now on.

        Developers had no say about it. Valve disabled cross region trading and gifting for all subscriptions, but like you said it only affects new purchases.

        Games/DLC can only be traded/gifted within the region they were bought in, with the exception of RoW which can be traded/gifted to any other region apparently.

        Also they might claim that it's due to the falling Russian Ruble, but why then was this lock applied across all regions and not just RU/CIS?

        With all the other recent restrictions to gifting, trading and market transactions it seems to me like they are just trying to put an end to cross region sellers/traders.

        @kamoi: Be interesting to see how larger companies (like Amazon) handle this.

        Latest update to Enhanced Steam shows the countries the region locks apply to, nasty tactic Steam is using.

  Skyrim DLC's are also $5 on Amazon, which is cheaper than steam, even with the sales.

  Would it be safe to say that the "don't buy until the last day" rule doesn't apply if the game is already 85-90% off?

    yes, the rule is: Unless its a Daily deal, community choice, or flash sale then wait for the last day

    Experience says 75% or higher is usually safe to buy, few games ever get discounted more than that below their current price.

    It's really tough to tell at this point. I'm going to go with no since it's still a recent release and well regarded. Time will tell I guess.

    $15.75 here, but I seen it go down even more on that site. Still $10 cheaper than steam!

    Absolutely. There's no reason to not own it at this point, it's been frequently 80-90% off the past couple of months.
