  • +1 for not calling it a 'drone', or tagging it as such.

Still waiting for my order of Syma X5c-1 from GearBest a month ago :(

    • Same here :( it is just like ordering from massdrop!

    • It's coming from China and just before Xmas. Unless you paid for expedited shipping then really its just par for the course. Not necessarily a Gearbest issue more likely a postal issue.

      • I also ordered simcard adaptors from them later on the same day, but I have already received it last week. Still no update on Syma X5C-1, and if I still don't get it next week I will have to open a dispute case with Paypal against GearBest before the 45 days is up.

    • Less than 10 ratings, at the moment…

      PS: It's: "I can find"

I watched your video - it's far from 30fps, more like 1-2 fps!

    • +1

      you mean 1-2 seconds-per-frame?

    • I grabbed the frame rate info from VLC player. The bitrate for the video is about 1.2 MB/s. A lot of the jumpiness is due to the camera shake since it's very gusty.

Compare with YouTube videos taken on Kmart/Target 30fps action cameras (eg. mountain bike riding) and you'll see similar frame rates.

I watched the video with headphones on. Now I'm deaf.

If the camera is really that lousy there's no point in getting the camera version!

  • does it store the video onboard or transmit to something ?

    • Its recorded via the Micro SD card inserted into the quadcopter. The manufacturer includes a 512MB Micro SD card and a USB card reader.

  • damn would be a good chrissy pres. Anywhere local that sells these cheap?

  • I hope that's wireless transmission issues, rubbish frame rate due to poor reception?

  • 640x480. Then I stopped reading.

    • you're lucky to be getting a camera at all for <$40

    • You could buy a 1080p key chain camera and attach it to the bottom of a Skytech M62.

Heaps of Quadcopter enthusiasts are using the 808 #26 key chain camera. They're $100USD on eBay:

I'm with Mr Kindface. In this price range you are lucky to find a quadcopter with a 2.4GHz remote control for outdoor use. The camera is a nice bonus.

      • That means you have to spend a total of $160AUD on a quadcopter and a camera. No longer such a bargain anymore.

Or you can spend more, $70-80AUD on a Syma X5C-1 that shoots HD 720p video, though the image quality is still pretty crap.

  • Received mine today. Has anyone installed the propeller guards?
