Im interested. But… Nasty site. Beer sounds nice but a bit hard to correlate the info on it with the beer advocate site. And particularly mobile unfriendly.
What are the ABVS for each variety too?
What are the ABVS for each variety
LOL! I was referring (I thought) to Alcohol By Volume…
I am on my PC now, and can actually see that info on the frigging label pictures.
Man those sites are just NASTY….
I'm interested in trying new craft beers. I can't still correlate what I'm reading to what is on that dodgy store, and what some of those beers are. I mean a Black American Pale Ale? Never heard of that, and have no idea what it'd taste like. I like dark beers but am honestly no IPA fan, and can't say I've tried an APA, let alone heard of a BAPA… :P
Little Creatures Pale Ale is a good example of an APA. Like an English pale ale but sweeter and hoppier than most. BAPA isn't a style I know but I imagine it's similar, just darker in colour (but not so roasty as to be considered a porter). This brewery is pretty decent btw, worth a try.
I'd have thought Black Pale Ale would be an oxymoron! :)
I might keep away from the Pale Ales then. I haven't honestly been too fussed with the ones I've tried. I think I've had Little Creatures.
Their Stout sounds nice. Smoke sounds interesting… "beechwood and smoked bacon aroma and a lightly peaty flavour". Whaaaaaaaaaat???
@Mobe1969: sorry was trying to upvote you, clunky phone screen, my bad!
If you're interested in beer, try the European imports first, world class beers from Belgium and Germany and England that cost less than Aussie beers that often aren't as good. Good to support Aussie brewers too though of course
Whaaaaaat!!?? on the negative!!! Can't you change that once done?
Yeah, I've been buying a lot of Leffe this year, coinciding with the Aldi free shipping… :) I just got a carton of the Hook Norton 12 Days Dark ale and that is pretty delicious too. Zweick Porter also. I've been on the lookout for some German dark beers at a good price to try too.
I ordered a carton of this mobs Stout, try it out. That said it still cost me a little more than the Leffe I've been getting…
@Mobe1969: Sorry man, I upvoted a few of your other posts to make up for it!
Yeah Hook Norton isn't bad for the price. Give Young's a go, I like their double chocolate stout, but often find it in the bargain bin so maybe it's not that popular. Nice chocolaty mouthfeel. Can't think of any easily accessible (i.e. Dan's/1st Choice) dark ales/porters/stouts that I can recommend off the top of my head, but if you're anywhere near Canberra, make sure to visit Plonk, the bottleshop at the Fyshwick Markets. They have a mindblowing range. Dunno if they're online too, probably are.
Oh hey just thought of one - Skull Splitter, from the Orkney Islands. Appears more like a wee heavy than a dark ale but has a lot of guts to it. Also try their Dark Island (if you can find it).
I'll try that Youngs. I'll keep an eye open for it.
Yes, looks like they have a website:

I couldnt work out how to buy something, where are the prices and whatnot? Its not on the store page.
Ok i've got it now. I didnt click the go to deal button but rather this http://www.3ravens.com.au/
Thanks.
shame they don't do a mixed slab to try them out…
Well the six pack prices are exactly 1/4 of a carton price so you could order mixed slabs of 4 at no loss.
I can vouch for the smoked beer, its great. Never purchased from this site though, only in a pub.
Somewhere on High St, Northcote, I imagine?
Oscar's Alehouse in Belgrave
I'd like to take back my 1 point vote… I had to cancel mine as no stout until april, plus they wanted extra shipping to Brisbane. Which is fair enough, for a small brewery, I'm not wanting them to sell at a loss. But the whole experience is not worth a +1, and is definitely worth a -1.
Is it full price if you buy more than 3 ?
