I tried to look for review for the Patriot Blaze SSD but couldn't find any
wonder how good or bad they are

If anyone is looking to buy/upgrade their router, I can't speak highly enough of the D-Link DSL-2890AL.

    • thanks Snoop, was going to ask this exact question.

      • It's changed my networking experience ten fold!
Those that bag devices like the WDTV because of connectivity obviously don't have a decent router!
On average I would have a couple of TiVos, 2 TVs, a desktop, laptop, a couple of phones and iPads permanently connected to it… and top it off by streaming to a couple of WDTVs regularly!

        • Does that router have SNR settings?

        • @krisspy: I can not see any SNR settings.

Looking forward to the ~250GB dropping below the $100 mark. Currently using a 120GB GSkill Pheonix which I bought in 2010 for around $400.

Cool, when I bought mine you could claim a Dlink wireless camera, which I more use for the wireless extender feature!

    • Anyone know the model info on the "BONUS WIRELESS AC USB ADAPTER*"?

      • Valued at RRP$59.95

According to their website it should be DWA-171 (which actually worth $19 now)

        • I just came to the same conclusion. According to reviews the dongle is not very good on the 2.4 band.

  • What does the DSL-2890AL have over the TP-Link Archer D7 Wireless AC1750 that would make it the better deal? Any reason why I should not get the DSL-2890AL?

    • This. Could anyone chime in.

  • Patriot or Samsung evo if price was exactly the same. ( and environmental footprint was the same)

      Samsung by a mile.

Patriots use a mish-mash of NAND and controllers sourced from a variety of manufacturers thus producing inconsistent quality; Samsung manufacture their own SSDs entirely (as do Intel and Micron/Crucial). I would exclusively stick with the big three in SSDs: Intel, Samsung and Micron (owner of Crucial).

      • Thanks for that crucial info

  • Any idea how the Kaspersky key works? Do you need to go instore to collect the key or do they email it out?

  • no 4xx-512 version?
    disappointed :(

  • Just to confirm, stocks from msy are eligible for the free Ac adaptor? or they are from grey import?

    • As far as I am aware. MSY do not grey import. They use the same distributors as everyone else such as Synnex or altech etc.

    • As above. I bought the D-Link router from them earlier this year and was able to claim the "Free wireless camera" offer at the time.

  • so are the SSD's any good or just a waste of money?

    • its patriot blaze

The Phison controller these Patriot Blaze SSDs use is a red flag for me. The stated write speed (430 - 530MB/s) also seems to be an issue, with users reporting far lower real-world performance.

No one uses 60GB SSDs anymore and the 120GB is about $15 dollars cheaper than the tried-and-true Samsung 840 Evo, which still delivers extremely good performance.

      • Good point. Thank you.

Just went and picked up a DSL-2890AL and one of the Nano WiFi dongles. Apart from the never ending queue I am happy with the DSL-2890AL so far. A lot quicker and stable than my old router.

    • +1

      Alot quicker, can you clarify?

      • Honestly, I've never done any bench testing on mine. But I could just tell that things were transferring quicker and streaming content was a lot smoother… and to multiple devices simultaneously! That, and I never want to plug my old router back in to test it against!!!
