Hibermate Sleep Mask - Dark Navy - $39.90 AUD Inc. Shipping

90
poll

EDIT 1: as onlinebuyingownz mentioned, there are some new 1s coming that are meant to function better, you can pre-order the new 1s here I've checked and you can apply the coupon to the new versions it brings them down to 39.95 but you'll still have to pay shipping.

EDIT 2: Hibermate have said that the coupon code isn't meant to work with the new models so just a heads up in case you pre-order 1 of the new 1s the code may no longer work.

They're normally $59.95 but they have special running on the Dark Navy 1s until Xmas for $49.95 + $9.95 for shipping but if you use the coupon it's $20 off and you can get it down to $39.90 with shipping.

I'm not sure how many people would be interested in this and couldn't find anything about it but I figured it seemed like an alright deal considering I've been wanting to try 1 of these for a long time now but didn't want to pay near $60-70 for 1.

NOTE: I'm not 100% sure if the coupon will work with everyone else since it was part of a little pop up (a legit pop up, don't worry) that showed up when I visited the site but you can apply the coupon before checkout to see, otherwise let me know if you get a different code from the little poll that pops up. If you like you can also apply the coupon to the other colours they have available but I wanted the cheapest 1 possible.

Interesting product. So it's eye mask with built in ear muffs
Hopefully they also don't prevent you from hearing your alarm in the morning, haha

    • That's why I wanted to try ear muffs because I've used ear plug and they're A) not very comfortable and B) I don't hear my alarm clock too well. I imagine these would allow you to hear your alarm as they're known to not be as effective as ear plugs.

      • They should go one step further and have in built headphones in those ear muffs!

        • I think because it's memory foam you could probably slip the ear phones into the cups, maybe? lol I dunno. I can't sleep with TV noise running in the background, not like I used to when I was a kid :/ Although an optional version with inbuilt headphones would be great for those people who do like some controlled background noise.

I'll give them a go. Thanks for the code!

    • Oh thanks for this, I'll add this to the original post in case some people might want to wait if they're interested.

  • I bought two Hybermate sleeping masks around four years back. They're different to this version but made the same claim of blocking out 100% of light.

They're comfortable and work but I dont believe its possible for any sleeping mask to block out all light. Including these.

Also after a year or so the Velcro broke down and my masks are now tied in a knot at the back.

If your after a good sleeping mask, hybermate would be worth it for ~$20 and a bargain at $10 but you will probably be dissapointed at this price.

    • I'm personally not after light blocking, my rooms dark enough as it is. But I've got my next door neighbour's dog that barks uncontrollably at absurd times and birds that decide to chirp like they're having an orgy outside (not even close to my window too) which wakes me up at about 4-5am so I was just getting desperate to try something before my last resort which is double glaze windows, I'd much rather risk $40 before trying a ~$3,000 solution :P But I might see if I can get the $20 off transferred to the new 2015 versions, I've just checked and it seems to work with the new 1s too.

      • have you tried sleeping with a fan on? I find it works quite well, even when it has to be pointed at a wall in winter. Alternatively a background noise app that can mimic fan and other noises.

        • I have, but it doesn't always help, the birds can get pretty loud, sometimes they come near my window and I can hear them clear as day, sometimes I can't even see them but I can still hear them clearly, usually that's when the fan helps a bit though, with the dog it's a different story, there's nothing that helps there apart from ear plugs which I hate using. I do also have the situation with my dad waking up in the middle of the night sometimes to randomly make noise in the kitchen or so it seems that's all he does in there but that 1 is a rare occurrence now days. haha

Personally I have a lot of issues with insomnia (as do a lot of others) and my experience is anything on or in the ears is too much of a annoyance to be helpful although I have not tried this particular product.

    • Yeah, I've found ear plugs can be uncomfortable and the 1s I have; have these little rod like handles on them which stick out enough that the plugs push further into your ear if you sleep on your side and sometimes they can come out if you move your head around while sleeping too. I've even had situations where they became really difficult to pull out, I thought they were stuck. I don't have insomnia but broken sleep is an absolute pain for me, literally because I end up waking up with a headache, especially this time of the year with the birds going nuts, I've not been able to get a good nights rest for the past month and more.
I've tried using a headset to cover my ears once which was a stupid idea lol I thought these might be good because they they are flatter than a headset. Only reason I stumbled on these was because I had googled "sleeping ear muffs" which is essentially what you want if you want to avoid ear plugs, since they're usually much flatter. These were the only 1s that stood out as proper noise cancelling 1s that were also available in Australia.

  • Good for plane trips and other noisy transport, especially if you don't have noise cancelling headphones.
