  • Please check you spelling in your deal title. Mavman sounds like a cheap chinese knockoff of the Navman GPS. You should also mention that its a GPS in the deal title. Makes the deal more clearer to read at a glance.

    • Fixed that. Thanks :-)

  • I wonder when Navman moved to Navteq maps (they used to use Sensis)?

Navteq used to be terrible, with street numbers being around 150meters off. I can only assume that they have fixed that issue.

    • We have this Navman, purchased a couple of months ago. Street numbers are absolutely spot on. We have used it in Melbourne and Sydney and a few towns in between.

I can't compare to any other GPS models as this is our first and we are extremely happy with it. The only slight negative I have with it is sometimes the touch screen is a bit too touchy.

  • I'm in the market for a GPS and was looking at the Navman My50 range (4.7" screens)

I have heard good and bad things about Navman - should I buy a NavMan or a TomTom or something else?

    • navman (and garmin) are not bad but tomtom is fantastic

      • I have TomTom and sometimes it fails to recognise legitimate street numbers. It offers alternatives but sometimes thats not good enough when you have to travel to a particular street sddress. Other than that, I find TomTom great.

  • It's a shame that you can't try before you buy with these. I've had TomToms for the last 4 years. I wonder if I'd like a Navman but don't want to outlay the cost to be disappointed. Anyone able to compare these things? The missus likes that Joanna Lumley tells her to "turn around sweety". Other than that, are TomToms that much better?

    • You can check by going to shops like harvey norman/dicksmith/JB Hi-fi to see the model (and see the actual device in demo mode)

  • Thanks for the link.
Anyone know whether the extra features on the MY-Series are worth it?

Never owned a Navman before, just curious what features are 'must have' and which are just useless add-ons.
