    cool

  • Always wondered how the heck this company's name is pronounced. Hayer? Higher? Anyone know with certainty?

    • It's "higher":http://youtu.be/qkJsjZmW8cM

    • The Chinese pronunciation sounds a lot like Hair but with an American sounding R

      • Better let the (American) producer of the Youtube clip know. "Hair" was pooh-poohed by the "interviewer"

    • Haier is made up of two Chinese characters 海爾, pronounced hǎi ěr.

Examples spoken by native Chinese. Example by asaikana is pronounced in a clear, distinct, and formal way, like "Please welcome the CEO of Hai Er". Example by defi is pronounced in a casual and informal way, like "I'm gonna buy a haier fridge today".

I find Electric Discounter very good.

  • Is the brand any good? Have not heard of it!

    • No.1 brand in China

  • damn shame most of it is freezer. 227l

  • Energy Use (p.a.) - 637kWh

Same use as Westinghouse 700l 3 star - 20% bigger, twice the price.

Since they changed the ratings in 2010, 2 star is OK.

I'm looking for a new fridge, and while side-by-side looks good, they seem to use more power, and I suspect the narrow shelves mean less efficient use of the rated volume.
(harder to fit things in and find them?)

    Compare e.g.

    4 star bottom freezer: http://www.lg.com/au/fridges/lg-GN-450USL 341kWh/year
Costs more, but it will pay for itself in a few years, and then profit. I like the non-protruding handles.
A bit smaller. Will a bigger freezer mean I save more buying in bulk, or will it just fill up with more unwanted leftovers?

  • Combined this with 15% off at my local good guys today - bargain! Thanks OP.
