TRS and Tax Invoice <$1,000 in different name

Apologies if this is in the wrong area.

I know for purchases over $1000 you must have the name and address of the traveller on the tax invoice.

My question is can a traveller claim TRS on items <$1000 where it has a tax invoice is in someone else's name??

They will accept no name, but what about a different name?

Can't find info on customs website.

No, have to be the same name.

    Same name as ticket.

  • Thought that may be the case.
    Thanks.

I purchased a tablet in the ebay/TGG 20% off promotion. I requested TGG issue the invoice in someone else's name- hopefully they will comply.

      they won't comply.
      that's called fraud.

        Why would it be fraud?

If you're giving it as a gift, it's easier to put that person's name for warranty purposes.

        • changing a name on a receipt is fraud…………..

        • @jaykay:

I didn't ask them to change a name of an existing invoice or increase the price on the invoice, I asked them to issue the tax invoice in a name I specified.

I do it all the time, and shops comply. i.e. I buy a computer for work and ask the store to issue the invoice to my company.

Anyway Jamiroquai, life isn't always black and white.
