Any idea if these can be used like wish gift cards (ie. Any of the wish group stores)? The Dan Murphy's physical gift cards could but not sure about these ones.

    • the T&C's say "Redeemable at all BIG W stores"

      • +3

You can buy gift cards from BIG W stores, including Wish gift cards, Myer, David Jones and more, so there is that "conversion path".

        • I'msure this has been asked before, but does the machine let it happen?

        • +4

@cloudy: I don't know if the machine lets it happen but I usually buy my DJ's cards from Woolworths at the counter using WISH gift cards and I've never had a problem. Only word of warning is it takes about 24 hours to activate, you can't just buy them from Woolworths and hop over to another shop and use them right away. In my experience anyway, YMMV.

    • Sorry for this but are you meaning the Dan Murphy's physical gift cards can be used at Woolworth Group? Thanks

      • The ones I got from Dan's are Wish gift card - just with Dan Murphy's branding. And yes, they work elsewhere, i.e. Woolies.

        • Oh I see, my local shop only sell Dan Murphy gift card which doesn't have logos of other shops at the back. I guess I can only use at Dan Murphy. Thank for let me know.

        • +4

@antn149: Dan Murphy Gift cards can be used at Woolworths, Big W and Masters.

        • @rabbit71: Great! Thank for letting me know. I may try to see if I can shop with my current $50 DM gift card :D. Thanks guys!

    • Dan Murphy's physical cards work at other woolies group stores. As per the terms on the cards, Wish gift card terms and conditions apply. Would be interested in knowing if these ecards work elsewhere. When I went through the terms onlinea few weeks ago, they all seemed to work across stores.

This list suggests there is no difference between different eGift Cards from WW Group. I assume, like all physical gift cards, that any eGift Card bought from WW Group (doesn't matter what brand is on the front) can be used where eGift cards are accepted.

      ps - great spotting OP

      • +1

Certainly with the physical cards, you can use anywhere within the group. I'm hoping this is the same for the eGift cards as well. I have used Dan Murphy Big W and Masters physical cards at Woolworths.

        • I don't think you are able use dicksmith cards at ww or others in the ww group

        • @czking:

Dick Smith is not part of WW Group. That's why.

        • -1

@PBG: But you can use WW gift card at DS

        • +1

          @czking:

DS used to be owned by WW Group and the wish gift card thing is a legacy agreement. Kind of like the Coles Myer gift card only this agreement is one way (wish can be used in DS, but DS cards can't be used in WW).

I used the Caltex Woolworths petrol egift card from the Groupon deal below to pay at Woolworths supermarket and Big W.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/167648

        • +2

          So have I.

  • Do they work for all products, e.g. Apple ??

    • Yes

    • +2

Gift cards = cash. There are no product exclusions.

  • edited out. Not relevant

  • Is that a known expiry date?

    • Description has been edited for clarification.

December 30th 2014 is the expiry of the offer to purchase discounted gift cards.
BIG W eGift Cards are valid for 12 months from the date of issue.

  • +3

They are literally all the same cards just with differnt faces, like the event cinemas cards.

Well I can confirm that you can purchase gift cards for gift cards on self serve machines and service desks, I have tried numerous of times at coles, coles express, Woolworths Caltex, woolies, and food for less, Officeworks, just don't let any staff know… The only place that does not work is bloody Myers, As their system detects it.

Edit: forgot to mention Kmart, coles myer card for any other card, including Visa prepaid cards.

    • +1

"Edit: forgot to mention Kmart, coles myer card for any other card, including Visa prepaid cards"

This I'd have to see to believe. Usually you can't pay prepaid visa/mc balances using anything other than cash/EFTPOS…

So, you have to buy "the book" for $55-70 before you can use it? About $750-950 to spend on giftcards to recoup the price if you don't have the book, is this right?

    • +12

Yes, but there are so many other great deals in the book. We buy one every year and get our money back within a month max.

      • I believe the Sydney books are now $50 if you ask existing members to buy it for you. May be cheaper for books for other areas.

    • +1

exactly what I was thinking. A lot of money for 2.5% discount.

    • depending on where you shop normally… I prefer to do all my shopping at woolies , fillup at caltex … etc so I can go through $700-800 in two months.
so it just makes sense. not to mention all the other deals as others have mentioned

  • i dont have Entertainment account, how to get some?

    • you have to buy the book for $55-$70 dollars first

      • ic, thanks for the tip :)

        • its $55 fo the Gold Coast, $65 for Brisbane for example.

Hey, you are on the Coast as well.

        • @PVA: I am but most the time I travel up and down NsW and QLd lol

  • +3

I have entertainment card… I will try tomorrow if I can buy a voucher with my big w ecard and let you know…

  • The entertainment book is great if you eat out and want to try places. With the gift cards and discounts you get from restaurants and other places, you make the $60 very quickly.

Also I buy the Woolies e gift card, use it for petrol, groceries, even buying Myer, JB or DJ gift cards from Woolies. Extra 5% off plus extra FF points.

    • Woolies e gift card, u can print it out and use?

      • It's just a PDF that gives you the codes to use online or on the registers. You can print it out if you want but I just keep it on my phone.

  • +2

A pity you cannot get discounted Coles gift cards/ecards on the Ent Book

    • Notreally , Woolies is cheaper anyway, plus 7.5%,I can't complain

    • If your a CPSU union member check out your local office, they are still offering Coles Cards @ 5% off….as are some other organisations (not many anymore though!)

  • +1

Sigh, I just purchased $1500 of the Woolworths gift cards on Friday. :(

    • +1

me too, same amount, about a week earlier!

  • Got one (few hours ago, though - taking their time sending it..)

  • Do any of the trial membership s still exist

  • I find it can be a few hours to 24 hours for the e gift cards to arrive, not sure why there is such a delay on them.

  • Can we get e gift cards, then use it to buy prepaid VISAs or the equivalent, and then use it to buy stuff on ebay with the 20% off?

    • and then use it for PayPal. lol

    • I've tried this before and it doesn't work. You can buy the actual VISA cards for $5 (or whatever it is) but when it comes to putting money on the card it doesn't let you use the giftcard. You can't even use a credit card.

  • +5

Just received my Big W egift card. It seems to work on woolworthsonline as payment - I din't finalise the order as there weren't enough good specials to justify an order.

    • How about at the checkout physically in store @ WW?

      • +5

Just used mine to complete an order WW Online, worked fine. Will check out in store tomorrow.

        • +4

Works. In-store, just checked it out. So you can buy other gift cards ieg JB, Kathmandu etc, as well, will get a couple of grands worth now.

        • +1

          @Coops1:

so printed out they work in woolworths as regular gift cards?

        • +4

          @SBOB:

Yes, used the instore code, worked a treat.

Even when you print them, while it says BIG W, all the groups icons are on the printout.

        • @Coops1: Great to hear. I'll be buying a few grand as well. Thanks for the feedback

        • @SBOB:

Don't need to print them out, just keep the PDF on your phone if you want to.

  • If I have physical Woolworths gift cards, can I purchase JB Hi Fi gift cards via the self serve register at BigW?
I am looking to buy an $650 JB Hi Fi gift card.

    • +4

Yes you can however why not do it at Woolies instead? You earn double the amount of frequent flyer points compared to Big W.

      Over $30 spend at Big W = 1 point per $2
Over $30 spend at Woolies = 1 point per $1 (plus a fuel voucher if you need it)

      • Thank you! I did not know you could do this at Woolworths. :)

        • Make sure you head to one of the bigger woolies stores. I find they stock the $100 JB cards compared to the smaller stores that only have the $50 ones.

Also the self serve has a limit of $500 before it spazzes out. Housemate ran $1500 worth of Myer gift cards and had to do 3 transactions. Looked dodgy as but eh.

  • How long does it take to get the egift cards? I have been waiting hours , want to buy a 3DS :P

    • ordered last night, were in my inbox this morning

  • +1

This brings Big W's iPhone 6 down to $793.65

  • +1

Just used the big w e gift card at woolies and no issues. Bought a $100 Myer gift card to purchase something that was price matched. True Ozbargain style.

  • Whats the cheapest way to get entertainment book membership? Doesn't have to be the book, just access to this.

    Thanks

    • If you only want it for this offer, just purchase one of the $55 books. There's a wiki on Ozbargain with lists of groups selling it.

You can buy a digital membership from any of them for any book in Australia and they are delivered virtually instantly.

    • Someone is selling an EB Gold Coast card (without the EB voucher book) on ebay for $20. You can register with that & get the discount on WW gcs buying through the EB website:

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ENTERTAINMENT-GOLD-CARD-GOLD-COAS…

      • Thanks, I have messaged them asking expiry and if they have already registered it.

  • Im still waiting on my ewish cards, been nearly 24hrs now. Says payment pending, paid by visa.

  • +2

Thanks for the link OP. Got the BigW $100 eGift card for $92.50 OK. Took about three hours for the eGift email to turn up. The eGift money can be used for WW online as it says:

"….has sent you a Woolworths eGift Card!
    should work at Woolworths on-line
Click here to access your eGift Card
Your eGift Card can be redeemed in-store and online at participating Woolworths Limited Group stores.
For a list of participating stores, please visit everydaygiftcards.com.au
Thank you from the Woolworths Money Team."

Stacking it with the Ent book $20 off $100 WW on line offer. Got this Ent $20 off code instantly by email and it works. Even retained the free delivery for new member in thier first month despite balance owing dropping from $104 to $84. Will be using the above BigW $100 eGift card bought for $92.50 to pay.

  • Anyone found a contact number? I have sent emails about my order with no luck

    • Mine still hasn't appeared either, ordered more than 12hrs ago.

  • I ordered mine like 30hrs ago, I have contacted woolworths money and they blamed my bank. Called my bank and they told me there is no problem with them, the merchant just hasn't finalized the payment yet. Now the Big W 3DS XL deal is out of stock, what I got these cards for in the first place.

(Long time follower, first time poster. Moderator, if I'm not allowed to post yet, please pass on any info you think is useful.)

I've been in touch with the Gift Card team quite a bit and here's what I've found out over the past few months.

    Delay in receiving eGift cards:

    • Apparently they are generated in batches every few hours, not automatically. Don't expect immediate delivery, order your eGift cards well ahead.

    • First you get an invoice by email, then am email containing a link to the e-card. If this is not happening for you, check the status online at everydaygiftcards.com.au (or via the Entertainment Book portal).

    • If the status is "delivered", the eGift card HAS been generated and emailed to you … and stopped by a spam filter somewhere, apparently because the link in the email is computer-generated.

    Not receiving eGift cards:

    • Make sure that [email protected] is on your email's safe sender list.

    • TPG customers are advised to use a non-TPG email address due to TPG's strict spam filtering. I tried to fix mine at TPG Post Office > Settings > Mail Filter Settings > Address Filtering but I'm still having trouble. (I am DETERMINED to find a solution though.)

    Contacting the Gift Card team:

    • is next to impossible! Woolies Customer Service and Woolies Online will not help you, it's nothing to do with them. The invoices from the Gift Card Team give the Head Office switchboard number 8885 0000 and email as [email protected].

    • However, once you are able to make contact with them, they are really really helpful.

    Using Big W cards:

    • The home page of everydaygiftcards.com.au shows that Store Gift Cards are accepted at all Woolies Group stores. Also, the Learn More link about e-cards says "Use in Woolworths Group Participating stores".
    • Very helpful post. Thank you

    • Bulk order gift card team (03) 6245-6685 also ;)

Friendly Tasmanians they are…..emails are probably slow for you mainlanders due to the lack of bandwidth across Bass Straight

  • 19 hours delivery for me, slow but acceptable for 7.5%, worked fine on Woolies online and stacked nicely with the $20 off for entertainment members posted on Ozb a few days ago.

    • What did u buy to hit $100 online….just for some ideas

      • You need ideas on what to buy from Woolworths????

        • Yeh hard to get $100 worth of useful and not impulse buy stuff.

        • +1

          @fatming:

          You mean like food?

  • finally received my vouchers after 13 hours. stacked with 15% off coupon. not too bad as my purchase was $400+

  • Hey guys, has anyone tried the conversion path? Ie. purchasing Myer/DJ/Coles giftcard using this 7.5% deal?
    Cheers :)

    • You could get Myers (from woolworths, not sure of bigw)….. You can't buy coles or coles group though, they just don't sell them…..if they do please post :)

    • +1

I converted to Kathmandu, JB, best restaurants yesterday. K and BR have 10% off at woollies, so a good stacked discount. I would be waiting for the myer deals at 10% off that usually pop up in the next week or so……

      • Cheers! So the conversion thing works! Yay, big savings for my Apple Macbook then haha

  • +1

This is such a good deal, I don't understand why it doesn't get more votes. Eg would you like to pay $100 for those groceries / clothes / electronics or $92.50…..stacked as required with other discounts or coupons in-store or online.

Total bargain IMO, in the main that you can use the ecard thrru Woolies not just BIgW. Thanks OP.

  • Is there a limit on how much you can buy for this promo?

    • Not that I'm aware of. Coles used to have a $4k limit but Woolies didn't have any.

  • +1

Bought $200 yesterday and spent it today at Woolworths. Thanks OP.
I'll be buying more now that I confirm it can be spent like the normal Wish gift card.

  • can we use this to buy wish gift cards?

    • Yes, you can.

      • can you use this egift card at woolworths
