Should I Change to TPG $60/M Unlimited + Home Phone?

Hi all,

Just got quick questions. I currently live in hurstville NSW and at the moment using "ADSL 2+ 150GB $40/m". My monthly home phone line rental + bill is approximately $20/m. I find myself always exceeding my 150GB limit. Should I change to the
"ADSL2+ $60/M Unlimited + Home Phone" plan?

it sounds too good to be true, anyone know anymore hidden costs? (ps I know there is a $100 transfer cost from existing ADSL2+ plan customers to ADSL2+ + home phone plan but any other?).
Im also really confused because it says on the website the $60/m bundle is only available to new custoemrs. Im existing customer so how come it lets me transfer? Does this mean I should make a new account and start fresh?

Thanks

Yeah, faxes and alarm systems might not work properly. That's about it.

Also, sometimes people calling you will hear a "network is temporarily congested, … this is a free call". They can just call again and after 2-3 minutes it will usually have capacity.

Also, it's actually a voip line, but the voip is converted at the DSLAM.

    • ""network is temporarily congested"

Woooow Whaaat, for a phone line?

  • I've had the plan for years without any issues. It is as described, and on the internet side there are no hidden catches.

As we never use the home phone, I can't comment on that aspect.

  • Two of my stepchildren live in South Hurstville. Both are with TPG and they experience no problems. They hardly ever make landline calls. When I am there, I download lots of movies and TV shows without any difficulty.

  • how much are you going to spend on the phone calls tho ? more than 10$ a month ?
if so , might consider just bumping up to the 50$ for 500 gbs + your current phone plan, saves you 100$
unless you are gonna go over 500gbs and really need unlimited, i have yet to go over 500gbs in 2-3 years, generally do 250-400 myself.

i think the catch with this plan is that it has no included calls , im not sure, and that 100$ initial cost needs to be taken into account.

  • i've used it for around >6 for three properties. adsl + hp unlimited for $59.99 is easily the best bang-for-buck plan on the market.

  • The down-time is a bit of a pain but it's cheaper because you are on a TPG DSLAM so the back-haul after the exchange is on TPG's dollar, not Teltra's.You'll see the occasional complaint on Whirlpool, and some areas have had a few problems, but the only time I have had connection trouble, other friends on different providers have had similar around the same time…

If you use your landline, their is always the $5 free "local" call option.
