[Origin] - Complete International Sale List for Black Friday

2300

Here is a complete list of titles on sale at three of the Origin stores.

I made this as a quick check for shoppers with VPNs after I noticed my USA proxy was showing higher prices for some games. It really is random which country is cheaper. This deal has already been posted by others but in less detail.

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/171594

The sale usually ends the Monday after Black Friday (Cyber Monday).

I include sale prices from the stores in Aus, USA and Mexico. A blank space just indicates that game is not reduced; it may however still be available.

Great post OP. Lots of work there!

    • Agreed. This will save me lots of time. Thanks a bunch OP.

  • +28

    +1 for the effort

    • +1

Came here to say the same. Nice job.

  • Some of the prices on the russian store are even cheaper again.. ie, BF4 Premium ed $40.50

  • +2

Planning for world domination, iSee what they did there. Changing the mainstream of Steam by giving the surprising price on the way to become the top. AFTER they got to be the top and bug one, start to monopolize the price and buy out all of their competitor company . Slick….

    • +11

      Ah what?

      • +5

He is clearly from the Russian Origin Store…all I heard is "Russia has many Bombs"

    • that makes no sense.

If this big company wants to buy me out for some ridiculous over-the-top price, I would gladly sell. And then with the money, I'll wait until they start charging these new monopoly prices, then start a new company and undercut the crap out of them. Oh you want to buy me out again? SWEET. Nice business with ya~

      • +2

Except you have a non compete clause for 25 years….

      • +2

They would likely get you to sign a non compete.

        • Just open the business under someone else's name. Easy.

  • awesome job, thanks for all your hard work mate

everyone should pick up crusader no remorse and get into it - that was a wicked game :)

  • +6

I think there needs to be fewer Origins and UPlays. If Ubisoft is going to release their games on the competitors platforms, they should shut down Uplay. I don't like managing 4 or 5 different friends lists (including consoles). All the PC ones are superfluous since Steam already does the same job. EA I understand has too much pride to give money to Valve, but Origin itself is a turd.

    • +1

Having only just started to use uplay for FC4, I'm amazed at how much it is the same as Origin, both bloody terrible.

    • +6

Origin used to be a turd back when it was "EA Game Manager" but it's actually really good now if you give it another look. Competitive pricing, slowly expanding their game market, really fast downloads and program opens quickly, best in class support staff.

      • +7

It's crazy that EA has better customer support for Origin than Steam does, but it is absolutely true.

      • Haven't actually had to deal with the support staff so I didn't know about that aspect. I guess I'm still annoyed at the ever increasing amount of platforms there are (GOG is apparently getting in on the action too), as well as managing multiple game lists/friend lists over these platforms. Its kinda like being forced to use ICQ, MSN, FB chat and IRC.

    • +1

yeah on my PC I had Steam, Origin, UPlay, Battle.net, Games For Windows Live and raptr. all different apps, all different friends lists.

    • +3

Monopolies are never good for the consumer. Even if it's Valve. I like Steam as much as the next PC gamer, but saying that everyone else should just roll over and let Valve have their way because you don't want multiple friends lists is pretty ignorant.

EA I understand has too much pride to give money to Valve, but Origin itself is a turd.

I take it you're not a businessman. It's pretty laughable you think this is about pride. It's about profits and profits alone. Evidently it's better financially for EA to run their own service than give Valve a cut of their game and DLC profits, and so they'll continue doing it - your multiple friends lists be be damned.

It's completely valid to complain about poorly functioning DRM platform services like these, but it's pretty short sighted and entitled to think that these companies should just give up their profits to valve because you prefer that platform. And for the record, I don't think Origin is anywhere near as bad as people make out (I've never had a single problem). Uplay, on the other hand…

      • Friends lists are not the only reason I don't want to use Origin. You close that client, it shuts down your game without warning you or giving you a chance to save first. And I always close that thing accidentally, because it looks like a popup browser window. And then there's BF which has to launch from a browser window for some reason. Lame.

I just don't want 3 things running on my systray/taskbar when one will do. I don't mind Battle.net that much since it's incorporated into the game client itself, and not a separate thing open in the background.

I don't care about EA's profits. Activision makes more than them, and they have no problem giving their cut to Steam. If Activision were greedy they'd make their own DRM client, but obviously Activision the biggest publisher in the world, like me, aren't businessmen are they? Making more profit by not sharing it with someone else's DRM isn't free if it comes at the expense of pissing off a lot of gamers. Their title range is piddling, and does not justify the ambition of being a steam competitor. Pretty much almost everyone publishes on Steam, especially Indies. If EA thinks the few games they make are going to be enough to make me use Origin, ok, but they're just not going to get my money.

        • +1

When I close Origin it runs in the system tray, you must've accidentally turned that off in the options. Have a look and see if you can find where to turn it back on.

I can see this isn't as really about you not liking Origin for legitimate reasons as it is being opposed to any Steam competitor being installed on your system. That's fine if you only want one library and if you are willing to miss out on big releases based purely on principles, voting with your dollar is always the best method to show where your opinion lies.

        • Friends lists are not the only reason I don't want to use Origin

You mostly missed my point, which was that it's ridiculous and ignorant to demand the world reflect your personal preferences (which are influenced by petty grievances) without considering the overall picture. Monopolies are bad. Period. Saying that you'd rather Valve have complete control over the market than tolerate competition is just asinine.

You close that client, it shuts down your game without warning you or giving you a chance to save first.

Just tried that with DA2. Closed the Origin window and killed the program from the tray, and the game still runs. The fact that it auto-minimises to the tray anyway, and therefore doesn't close the client accidentally at all, shows that you don't really know what you're talking about.

because it looks like a popup browser window

Hah, now you're stretching. Even if it did look like a pop up browser window (which it doesn't), you'd still have to close it in the tray to close the program (which still does nothing anyway).

I just don't want 3 things running on my systray/taskbar when one will do.

If you're so pedantic that the number of things running on your taskbar / tray annoys you, then I really don't know what to say.

If Activision were greedy they'd make their own DRM client

EA already had the infrastructure to build a DRM client in EA Download Manager. They already had DRM like features from their various game services (like the BSN). So evidently it worked out better for them to go this route, otherwise they wouldn't have done it. Maybe Activision isn't in the same position. Maybe they have different revenue vs expense priorities than the Valve cut. You can't just hold up Activision as a counter-point in and of itself, it's useless.

And greed has nothing to do with it. The goal of a business is to make profits. You can further your profits by essentially increasing your revenue, or decreasing your expenses. It isn't greed, it's business.

          aren't businessmen are they?

You're misappropriating quotes. I said you obviously aren't a business man because you wrongly attribute human emotions to companies.

Making more profit by not sharing it with someone else's DRM isn't free if it comes at the expense of pissing off a lot of gamers.

Most gamers don't care about this stuff, they'll just play the games they want to play. It's just the petty few that get their underwear in knots because they have to endure the arduous task of installing one more program. I also love the innocuous choice of words in 'share with someone else's DRM'. It isn't 'sharing' if they're being charged for the privilege.

It honestly just comes down to lacking perspective. You're just arguing that the market should be as you want it to be. Because you don't want another program in your task bar, because you don't want another friends list, whatever. The point is, it's petty when you compare it to the danger of anticompetitive action that a monopoly brings - anticompetitive action that you're actually advocating in that everyone else should fold and conform with the market leader simply because it's the biggest.

        • @ProspectiveDarkness: I simply don't want DRM through persistent connections, like Steam, so I vote with my dollars and spend huge amounts with GoG regardless of price. I never purchase for Uplay, only purchase for Origin if the game can't be got elsewhere and is super cheap, and I only purchase with Steam if it's through a 3rd party at ridiculously cheap prices.

        • @Ebany:

You're entitled to your preferences, of course, and I think you're justified in your thought process. My buying patterns are somewhat the same as yours, in that I don't buy from any of the actual stores if I have a choice, due to price (Amazon is usually the best choice, I find). I'm similarly opposed to crappy implementations of DRM, like my experiences with Anno 2070 and Uplay (was terrible when it came out, and items in-game can be affected when your connection to their servers drops even now).

My problem is with people who are selectively against DRM like Origin, simply because it's from EA (instead of the benevolent Valve) and other petty things, and refuse to see the bigger picture by selfishly thinking that the market should be in line with their preferences. I'm trying not to be too harsh, but it just seems like living petulantly in an ignorant little bubble. People just seem to follow the herd in loving Steam and Valve, and hating on EA and Origin. I find it even more baffling that there was more outrage with EA when they first introduced Origin than with Uplay's setup now, where even if the game is on Steam you're forced to use Uplay anyway. People just like having all their games in one place (which I can't fault generally, because I do too), but they seem pretty prepared to get bitter and bitchy about it, and whine about how things should be. But anyway.

        • @ProspectiveDarkness: Was writing a reply but accidentally hit the "back" button on my mouse and lost it.

Basically it was "I understand" and "gaming companies are trying to kill 2nd-hand game trading which really annoys the hell out of me".

      Monopolies are a crappy idea.

  • The Saboteur™

If you've never played this I suggest you give it a go. At $2.49 it's a very good price. A little unpolished, but I still had a lot of fun with it.

Although, I remember some issues with ATI cards, so that might be something you want to research if risking $2.49 is unacceptable to you.

The save files on the PS3 version are mini video clips of things you did around the time of the save. Its freaking awesome.

      • Not many games took advantage of the PS3's save movies. Wish they had something similar on PS4/XB1 now that the consoles are always recording in the background anyway.

  • +3

Obviously not a gamer as I thought this was Queensland's Origin energy utilities company ;-p

  • Hey guys, what's the best price the BF4 premium membership can be had for?
I'm thinking of waiting for a better deal than the current price of $34.99

    • +1

Seems to be US$24.49 at the Mexican Origin store.

  • Great work OP

  • Quiet a few of these games have been the same prices (or sometimes lower) on Steam and PSN recently. So they'd probably appear again shortly.

    • +1

Most of the the Sims 3 expansions have never been that low on Steam (several have never been under $10 let alone $8 on AU Origin right now).

  • Sims 4 (Mex) looks like a good price for some friends!

    Watchdogs has been cheaper..

  • Great work indemnity. Battlefield 4 is definitely for sale on the Mexican store as per my post. You'll need to update the table.

    • +1

      Done and thanks.

  • Nice work there OP, +1 just for the effort :)

[Edit] I notice Syndicate (2012) isn't in the list. I know it's not sold in AU due to the extreme violence, had to get my English copy from RU, but I thought it was sold in US. Excellent game btw, very blood thirsty though.

  • Anyone tried the Mexican Origin store yet?.
Everytime i try Hola it shows as Mexican origin store however the prices showed are the US store prices and not mexican store.

  • So I need to use A VPN for the US and mex stores. But can I add to my Australian origin account?

    Anyone recommend a good VPN?

  • +2

Oh wow, Aus is actually cheaper than US for stuff for once O.o

  • +3

OK just tried Origin India store as Origin Mexico isnt showing the prices listed above (ie its showing the US store prices).
    Connected to HOLA
    Selected Indian IP
    Went to Origin India Store.
Added Sims 3 Ambitions Expansion listed as Rs239.60 (around 4.50AUD) (certain things are actually cheaper on India Origin - ie Sims 3 Ambitions and Generations but Seasons and University Life is double the price..)
Went through checkout stage to the screen with login details to be filled on the left.
    Stopped Hola
Logged into Origin with my existing account
    Entered my card details.
    order placed and completed.
    Checked my origin client.
Sims 3 Ambitions listed and downloadable.
checked my bank records - charged $4.55AUD PLUS $1.30 AUD (i assume this is the international currency conversion charge?).
Seems to work fine (except for the extra charge lol).

I assume same process for other stores …

    • not using 28 degree card?

      • Havent got one. yes im aware i should but too lazy :). Is the 1.30 charge as i assume?

        • Sounds like you got stung by the conversion fee

I just bought Battlefield 4 Premium membership off the mexico Origin store and it was $29.82 AUD on Paypal edit just used Hola with Chrome to get there

Haven't even finished half the games in my Steam library…and yet here I am

  • is it possible to download these games to ps3 or ps4 by anychance or only on pc ?

  • Thanks for the sorting and effort op!

  • Why didn't you include the Indian store? Some of their prices are really good.

  • Pretty sure most of these games are cheaper in the current Xbox Live sale. and maybe Green Man too.

    • Most EA stuff isnt available to aussie customers on green man…

      • stupid EA.

        • Stupid GMG.. They should tell publishers to take a hike.. but they don't..

        • +1

@Vladdo: I don't think GMG are big enough to strongarm EA, if they refused to allow EA to restrict regions then EA would happily talk a walk. GMG won't stop you from buying the game over a USA proxy though :)

        • +1

@Agret: It's funny how GMG has progressed.. firstly they were about buying and trading your games in.. then they said that they'd offer no price hikes for australians… yet, here we are..

You're much better off just buying ubi/origin games thru a proxy via india/mexico or russia..

  • Thanks OP. Bought BF4 premium membership for AUD 28.44 on 28 Degrees card.

  • great deals , but origin , ill pass , steam prob will have sale soon

  • Just a heads up I bought Far Cry 4 through the Indian store, and it is region locked

    • +1

Read somewhere Assassins Creed Unity is also region locked.

    • +1

No it isn't mate. I grabbed it off the Indian store too. All worked fine, just had to use an Indian proxy to activate it on UPlay. Can play fine with AUS IP once activated.

Settings > Network > Proxy Type "forced" > enter IP:PORT (use Google for free one).
      Restart UPlay.
Activate product (may be slow depending on proxy).
Now disable proxy use for UPlay (delete IP:PORT).
      Restart UPlay.
      Profit :)

  • Just a heads up - I got BF4 Premium from Amazon on sale for something like $20, so it might be worth waiting to see what happens

  • So if you buy these through a proxy it will work on your origin account?

  • I like driving games. Any that standout from the list?
    Thanks.

    • NFS The Run isn't too bad. Has some very nice scenery, story is terrible. I played it on PS3 and will probably get it on PC (for the pretties). A bit more sim than arcade, certainly less arcadey than the later NFS titles (Most Wanted, Rivals etc). There is one track called 'Porsche Attack' (or something similar) that, imho, is worth the $5 alone.

BF4 Premium Edition is now showing as $34.99 AUD on the Au store for me. Just purchased at that price.

  • Is anyone getting errors trying purchase things? (aussie store) im getting failed payments

    • gosh! I thought it was just me.. I've been trying for 2 days now and I get the same error.. Even tried talking to EA customer support which was absolutely pointless as they were just blaming it on my bank and refused to accept any possibility of an issue from their end!

So far, I've tried Paypal, a Mastercard and a Visa Debit/Credit Card.. and they all give me some error or the other and wont process my payments correctly! I went and checked with my banks as well and they say my cards are perfectly fine and I've even confirmed the address details.. I didn't really have any qualms with Origin up until this point

Anyone know how to get past this hurdle? :S

      • Does your PayPal email address match your Origin email address? Mine doesn't and still works but just wondering.

        • Nope.. they don't match either.. Been trying today as well and still no dice..

    • Was getting errors on both Aussie store and Mexican store yesterday when using paypal. Worked for one transaction but then not the next, so ended up paying with card.

  • Prices have dropped for Battlefield 4 and The Sims 4, others may have dropped as well.

    • No price drops on Sims 3 Expansions nor WatchDogs nor Ass Creed Unity :/

  • Purchased sims 4 through mexican origin store using flyvpn, no qualms. Even better price! $21.34AUD for standard version.
