Poor reviews? From where? I've seen nothing below 4 out of 5.

Apart from the lack of an micro SD card slot, I can't see anything bad to say about this!

Have a read of Androidpolice and androidcentral (don't count the Verge as they're a little to biased against Android)

        1) Poor build quality: creaking in the back
        2) Lots of light bleed from the screen
        3) Subpar speakers as they're taken from phone speakers
        4) No coating on the screen and front meaning lots of fingerprints and oil marks
        5) Overheating problem
        6) Below standard battery life

So I went to AndroidCentral and read the Nexus 9 Review from which I quote:

The performance is great. The battery life is fine. I like the future-proof internals. I just don't love the overall package, and I know there other products out there that suit me, and cost less.

The only thing I can say I do not like is the new 4:3 aspect ratio, but that's just me. I can't say that is a reason to not buy the Nexus 9, and for some people it's a good reason to purchase one. You would be able to find reasons — real or imagined — to knock the Nexus 9 and not buy it. You would be able to find just as many reasons to love the Nexus 9 and throw your money at Google until one appears on your doorstep.

          Hardly, the disaster you claim.

        • @mathew42:

First off, I didn't neg this deal.

I said 'poor' because there are reviews that point out that the pricing is not reflective of the quality.

16gb nonexpandable isn't the most ideal either and the jump to 32gb is quite a significant leap

          @BanSlavery:
I would suggest there is significant difference between your use of the word 'poor' and a review which highlights 'minor' issues.

Yeah.. Poor Reviews?? Its one of the best android tablets around. With the latest Android Lollipop. But how they are able to give for that price is beyond me

    • I'm pretty sure expansys is an official Google sales agent for Asia pacific? Reason saying that is because I ordered nexus 4 directly from Google play store back then and found out upon receiving my parcel, the sender is from expansys Hong Kong.

How does Tegra K1 compare against Snap 801/805?

Looks like not a bad product, but I wish it was a bit cheaper considering Nexus products used to be sold at cost or below cost (google doesn't make money on them). Also 4:3 ratio not good for movies.

The Tegra k1 should be a lot faster, but the problem being this 64 bit and new architecture. Early teething problems with Lollipop and many apps/games aren't optimized to take advantage of the new processor. You can play a hand full of exclusive titles on tegra k1, which are mainly old ports like half life. Supposedly the Tegra k1 is easy to develop games for and quite capable, but considering most developers are only interested in developing for the least capable device, I don't see too many games being made to take advantage of the power.

From what I gather, the main concerns with this tab
      -poor quality control
      -many have light bleed issues
-poor battery life (Some users are seeing 2-3 hours sot)
      -laggy ui

I expect things to improve, best bet would be wait a few months for a new revision to fix up hardware, and by that time hopefully Google will have Lollipop running good on it.

  • Interested in one but I'll wait for a ~20% off sale @ DS/*

It would undoubtedly make the exclusions list.

Keep in mind that this tablet has all sorts of issues, so you'd be better off buying it from Google with their great aftermarket support.

EDIT: Downvotes for stating it has issues? FYI, my brother bought one, and I've been following the new nexus releases very closely. Stay classy.

  • Setting aside whether the tablet itself is good or bad (although I can't believe the storage is slower than the Nexus 5! Did no-one learn from the N7 2012??), think long and hard before buying a 16GB model. I have a 16GB Nexus 10 and am constantly bumping against that limit. I started regretting buying the 16GB about 3 weeks after buying the tablet.

    • you guys must store alot of stuff on your tablets my galaxy note 10.1 is 16gb and ive not gone evern close.
i stream all movies and tv shows and stream music. and apps done take up that much space.

      • +1

I use the tablet while I'm away, so store lots of photos, some movies, and games.
Particularly the games fill it up very, very fast. If I were streaming everything it wouldn't be a problem, I agree.

  • Does this have Multi Winow like the Samsung tablets?

  • shame they dropped Qi charging support going from nexus 7 2013 to the nexus 9 :(

My old Hp Touchpad with it's touchstone charger is just so convenient to pick up and drop back on the dock whenever I use it without having to worry about whether I plugged it back in or needing to unplug it or whatever.
