Both referrer and referee will receive $25 credit on first purchase. Referral codes should be entered as a discount code when ordering. Orders to Northern Territory are not eligible.
I really got excited for a second and thought the price is per case and not per bottle … maybe change the - case of 12 - at the end of the title … :-)
I read it as per bottle also … :(
Seems like a good deal… until this indicating that the price guide for this wine is $18.
I have doubts that this wine was ever actually selling for $90 a bottle.
Also, this … Simon Lang only started making wines in 2008. I doubt that a first attempt is worth 20 bucks a bottle. Still, might be worthwhile.
A very good point. Just because a winery chooses to sell a wine at an extremely high price point doesn't necessarily mean that it's a bargain when that price is slashed. In this case, one could surmise that they didn't move much stock and have had to cut the price dramatically (possibly even to $18 elsewhere). There are also plenty of arguably decent wines with a usual RRP of under $20 and highly pointed. I'd much rather purchase e.g a Teusner the Riebke 2013, which is $18.90 at Dan's and 95 point Halliday.
Although the actual wine maker Joanne Irvine seams to have some accolades:
2014 Baron of Barossa
2009 Barons of Barossa Winemaker of the Year
2008 Telstra Business Woman of the Year Finalist
2006 London International Wine Challenge Red Winemaker of the Year
There are over 100 barons of the Barossa: http://www.baronsofbarossa.com/meet/
While the 2009 and 2006 accolades are related to wine-making, being a Telstra Businesswoman of the year finalist is not.
Yes there are 128 barons, but only 1 or 2 Barons of Barossa Winemaker of the Year are awarded annually.
I was clarifying for those that are reading the post above that although Simon Lang only started making wines in 2008 this does not mean that the winemaker did also. I feel that acknowledging the wine maker is good would help people in there decision whether or not to buy.
Misleading prices in title. Upvoting your own deal. Seeking referrals when making new threads for every vinomofo deal was discouraged ages ago. Come on…….
Have a whine why don't ya? ;-)
Actually in fairness, the $90 RRP is a vinomofo fail and not entirely OP's fault, but should be able to use some judgement that wines rarely go for the manufacturer price and realise this is way less of a bargain than it's being made out to be.
I don't think you're being entirely fair. Vinomofo always uses winery RRP to promote their wines. People should know to do their own research on current market prices. Maybe OP could have researched wine a little better before posting, but s/he did at least identify the wine so that punters could make an educated decision on whether to buy or not. Doesn't deserve the negs IMO.
I've acknowledged that in the above post, have I not? But sorry, I don't think there is any bargain here, and obviously a decent number of other people feel the same way.
Also, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/159578, from your very own thread —> "Sorry guys but Vinomofo has requested that people desist from publicly revealing their secret deals, as they feel it is damaging their ability to secure these deals with their suppliers".
Yet you're happy for this guy to do it now? I don't understand.
@zorsT: I've chosen not to reveal the secret deals because I buy regularly from Vinomofo and don't want to lose deals like these. However, obviously knowing which wine it is helps people make an informed decision. In any case, going on the clicks this post has received, and the way this wine is being bought up on the Vinomofo website, I'd say lots of people think it's a deal worth having. I think the neggers are just a vocal minority.
@Sweet3st: 166 clicks does not necessarily make this a popular deal. There are plenty of deals posted earlier today with less than a handful of votes (or none) that have over 100 clicks. It's a given, based on how many people use this website. I'd also hazard a guess that some people may be clicking in curiosity, due to the number of negs this vote has received.
Thanks! I was waiting for someone to post which wine this was. The price of $18 mentioned appears to be coming from Huon Hooke listing the wine as $18, other then that I can't see where it has been actually sold for that price. Always take these RRP with a grain of salt! Looking forward to drinking it.

Some alternative info on price. http://www.wine-searcher.com/wine-337958-2008-simon-lang-shi…
You can't just cherry pick your stats. That same site says it was $292 in July 2013.
In fact, at 7 different times over the past 18 months, it states that the value was > USD$270. Do you believe these figures?
If you don't, what makes you so quick to believe the current figure?
Common sense would say it's not a very reliable indicator at all, wine prices do not track like that.
Wine Searcher is a reputable site with a lot of detailed info to offer. I use it regularly. The wine prices reflect international prices, not just those in Australia.
Well, there's one thing this post has done!

6 hours ago - Deal: Black Market Shiraz 2008 - RRP $90 Now $19.99 Looks Like Simon Lang - Case of 12 @ Vinomofo, Store: Vinomofo, Category: Food …
If it was truly a great wine, it'd likely be sold out by now. 93 JH points isn't exactly "must have" either.
I've been very tempted to get a case, but I don't think 12 bottles is necessary.
Pretty risky, too, given that if you look at the website, Simon Lang has produced a total of two wines - the 2008 Barossa Shiraz, and a 2009 Limestone Coast Sauvignon Blanc (Halliday 89 points), priced at $40…
Wow, I can't believe I was allowed to keep my negative vote…
I bought it. It's magnificent.
It's a shame people neg voted this as the wine I received was a steal at $20 a bottle (well actually $10 with referral money..)! I hope a few people jumped on board and got some.
The wine is rubbish. So bad I will never buy from them again. This is a con make a cheap wine and even cheaper web site but a very high price. If it sounds to good to be true yes you guessed it it is. Why has only one vintage been made and and retailers dont sell it
If the wine is no good, tell them! They are very open to sending back what is left & refunding.
You get nowhere if you don't ask.
Sure, some of the "deals" are not good but it's not all cheap wine, in a rubbish respect.
I really like the wine, what do you think is wrong with it?
2008 Simon Lang Shiraz 001

James Halliday Australian Wine Companion
Tasting Note: "Made from grapes grown in the Gomersol and Tanunda areas, with the distinctive Irvine touch from finishing the fermentation in French and American oak barrels perfectly integrating the fruit, oak and tannin flavours. Seductive style pioneered in 1951 by Max Schubert. Carries its alcohol well, likewise its fresh colour."
