  • Didn't this use to be like $49? Or was that a smaller bundle?

    • yeah it was a smaller bundle with 15 games

  • +1

$130?! You can get this shipped from the US, or on eBay, for much less.

Here's (I think) a much better alternative Retron 3 on Amazon, $73.71 shipped

The 80 40 legit games is good, though…

    • +1

      That looks awesome!

Red one is a few bucks cheaper

no no no no no the retron is complete trash. it just copies the game to the system then runs a buggy open source emulator.

      • +1

Or for free run these games in HD on your PC, MAC or Android by downloading a free Mega Drive emulator.

      • Aren't they all buggy emulators? They're not "console on a chip" as far as I know. I've read there are a few carts that had a workaround for a bug in the Genesis cpu that, when run on these, will fail to start.

Apparently this one's sound output is bad. And the Retron 3 has very poor controllers.

        Personally I think they're all a bit of a waste, but I'm a biased console collector :)

        • +2

16bit emulators buggy? 1999 called, they want their opinion back.

  • Same question as above I recall I saw this with a much cheaper price

  • Used to be one at kmart for $49 but it only had 15 games https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/29049

  • This is horrendously overpriced. Not a bargain. KMart/BigW used to sell this for well under $50. Not to mention you could probably pick up the original at Cash Convertors for less than that.

    • No way. original consoles from this time are collector's items now. If you see one at Cash Converts snap it up, but won't happen.

Try showing this to kids of today and they will laugh at you and go back to playing minecraft..

  • +1

I am pretty sure it cost me close to $129 in the 90s when I first bought one.

    • I paid about $140 (after currency conversion). I sold it for about $50, I think :)

  • +5

Those bonus games are a joke

    • +2

My favourite would have to be "Mr. Balls".

      • Is the sequel "Ms. Balls"?

  • +4

    no NBA Jam no deal.
Also, $65USD on Amazon (although does not currently deliver to AU)

    • +1

Would still be cheaper to send through a forwarding service than to buy at Myer!

  • I guess the cool thing with this one (I don't know if the other one can do it) is that you can use original cartridges on it.

    Edit
Noted that the other unit listed above can play cartridges from all the platforms but I was talking about the other sega mega drive unit that came out

  • No After Burner nor After Burner II = No Deal :-(

I purchased the AtGames Genesis from US Groupon for $40 (USD) a few days ago.

    Actually it's still available - http://www.groupon.com/deals/gg-atgames-sega-genesis-classic…

    ~$78 AUD delivered.

    NO DEAL MYER

    • How does it connect to a PAL TV if you bought it from the USA? Im assuming it would be compatible with NTSC only?

      • PAL/NTSC is irrelevant these days since ALL modern tvs support both..

        • Ok I didnt know that - thanks. Do you know if the Mega Drive via Groupon connects to the TV via HDMI or other input type?

    • How did you buy from Groupon US? They won't post to Australia, unless you used a freight forwarder?

  • +1

I have one like this, it actually runs the games a bit fast. The speed up music is very off putting.

  • +1

Better off using the money buying a xbox 360 E 4GB!

  • +4

Be great to have but at $129.00 is not a bargain what so ever

    • Yeah, only paid a bit more for my PS3+Skylanders G bundle!

  • +3

Megadrive Ultimate Collection has pretty much the same games (if you have a PS3 / 360) and can be had for $20.
Good I guess if you still have some original carts but no machine to play on.

  • No Sonic 3?! This would also be way better with the Shining Force series

  • +1

No Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3….NO DEAL!

    • ah… MK3 with blood codes. Brings back joyful memories.

  • +3

No Alex Kidd in Miracle World? That was the best one!
I have the Kmart one with smaller game collection, works well but it doesn't get a lot of attention due to PC gaming, PS3 and Wii.
These things are great if you're into vintage gaming or for young kids

    • +1

Alex Kidd in Miracle World was the built in game on the Master System II, I don't think it was on the Mega Drive.

  • no micro machines turbo tournament, no deal
