  • Good deal if you're in Melbourne.
Shipping to Sydney is $23.69 which is more than the printer itself kinda kills it.

    • +1

If you think that's bad look at the shipping charges to regional cities. Well over $30. In my case $47.60. This is for one printer. I don't know which courier they're using but they're charging a small fortune to ship to regional locations.

  • +1

Estimated shipping to North Rockhampton post code 4701 is $47.60 which is a bit of a deal killer. Over twice as much as the printer itself.

  • +3

Those are the charges from our courier. The printer itself isn't big or bulky, but the box dimensions make freight charges what they are (+ customer location). We don't make money on freight.

hi rep - was trying to work out if you can get extra trays for this model - my limited research tells me no…
    am I correct?

  • +1

    So…. cheap…. must… restrain… self….. already have….. two printers….

  • $54.59 postage to Perth :)

  • +3

Delivery is only $470.07 to the Torres Strait!

  • +1

ordered first, now came to check what I have ordered!

REP, you should come here more often and offer bargains! Your last bargain was more than 18 months ago!

  • Does Duplex here mean manually turn the page?

    • +2

no, you outsource that to the printer!

    • +7

You buy toners? I only buy printers!

Just buy a few printers and keep the toners.

      • +6

        You're right!
        $114 = 6 x printers with 600p toner (3600pages)
        $117 = 2600p toner

        Oh what a wonderful world!

        • wow. and sell each printer afterwards on gumtree for $10

        • Plus shipping if you don't happen to live any where nearby the store. Shipping price on six of these printers wouldn't be cheap at all.

ps. There's a 5 printer order max per customer so it would be actually 5 printers.

        • In fact you could pay Landmark Computers to pull the toner cartridge out and keep the printer to save on shipping costs ;-)

      • +2

I really don't like how things are priced these days.. so bad for the environment.

      • +1

Not good for the landfill and the environment if every time the toner runs out you buy a new printer.

According to the manufacturer site the specs on this on both the ozbargain post and LMCs site are not right.

    Two key points:

    1. Its MANUAL duplex, i.e. does not actually do duplex itself, it requires you to do it for the printer which no one realistically does.

    2. Resolution is 1200 x 600 not 1200 x 900dpi.

    http://www.lanier.com.au/product/bawprinters/sp201n#

Without proper duplex unless you have a specific use that is single sided you will end up wasting twice as much paper using it as a proper duplex unit, so not a deal in my books.

As it seems like a uncommon name brand I wonder how sourceable replacement cartridges are, certainly generics would be hard to source?

Too bad.. looked like a nice unit.

  • That's correct. It's a rebadged Ricoh. Since Lanier and Ricoh have now merged, I'm guessing they want to get rid of old stock with the Lanier name.

  • +9

The title is misleading, saying it is a duplex printer implies it is an automatic duplex.
All simplex printers are capable of manual duplex anyway. The lanier website itself also does not advertise this model as a duplex printer.

Neg due to storerep misrepresenting product.

  • i hate brands stating their printers do "manual duplex" cos every single printer can bloody do that ffs

  • At least this printer supports Windows 8 so it should also work on Windows 8.1 although the genuine toner cartridge isn't cheap. Not cheap like Brother toner.

  • Can every printer do manual duplex easily. How do you print a multi page print from a web site, for example?
You would need to chose every 2nd page to print some how . I suppose you specify 1,3,5 then print again and specify 2,4,6.
Manual duplex , you just choose that in the print software and it auto does the prints one side then feed in again. It is much easier than printer that don't say manual duplex.
Then again what would I know, I never print duplex unless he printer does it automatically.

  • I trust some one can help me with this one. I unpacked the printer today and tried installing the drivers on the PC. I am getting the same error all the time that PC can't detect the printer !! has anyone else facing the same issue ? Thanks
