  • I'd buy, except for the far-too-low-for-me screen resolution :-(

I can't seem to find anyone selling this model new (it's discontinued), and you haven't revealed the background or condition of your units, or if you're offering any kind of warranty, so it's difficult to suggest a fair price.

Interestingly, there are heaps of eBay sellers offering LCD screens for these devices, but I couldn't see anyone offering whole laptops. I have no idea what that means!

Your own costs, and why you're selling them (ie as a business proposition) will obviously enter into it, and I guess you'd probably be hoping for at least 100% markup (ie buy for $100, sell for $200).

As a buyer, particularly here, I'd expect to be paying very little - perhaps eBay is a better place to offer them?

    • I have no idea what that means!

it means seller makes more/easier money selling parts rather than whole machine! also less to carry/store/post and because it's a part you deal mainly with tech oriented buyers
as for price, gumtree probably around $180-$250 depending on condition/accessories etc, but why not give us your "must sell today" price here? lol

      • -1

        Yeap, this.

Strip all the parts. Display will sell for 1/3 or even half the price of the entire machine.

Then sell the RAM, mobo and HDD as 'manufacturer refurbished' condition and clean the keyboard and sell it as 'brand new'.

        Easy money.

        • +1

          yeah dont do that

dismantling each machine is a pain in the ass

i assume you dont want to bother with warranty so i would think a quick 14 day DOA warranty might be the go, of course reflected in the price

they will honestly suit many people, just not the FHD screen snobs here

          to me a 2.8kg 15" HD machine is a bit… errrgghhh

but i may be interested in a machine as is, no hdd, no o/s installed just as a hack unit

        • @tonyjzx: Still keen on a unit or two (or more?!)

  • Noted. Thanks for the feedback

Background is these are project specific work laptops that are no longer needed now the project has finished. Condition wise they are all good. Some minor signs of use, but no issues beyond superficial cosmetic wear and tear.

To be honest I'm literally buying as many as I can without the hard drives, which i will then install with Windows 7 Pro as per the assigned license sticker for the machine. Hence the flexibility in hard drive size.

Warranty wise my response would be to treat this like any other second hand laptop purchase

Let me know if you have any more questions

  • also i'm surprised that a fairly high end laptop with discrete gpu doesnt have hdmi or dp???

    weird

    • The Dell latitude E4310 / E5410 of the same era did not have it either, despite being targeted as business and enterprise laptops. Guess most people back in the day were still using DVI / VGA displays and HDMI was mostly a home entertainment thing so omitting it would probably keep costs down (the manufacturer has to pay a royalty fee to use HDMI in their machines).

    • To confirm these do gave mini display port outputs. Got it running through my TV thanks to a mini dp to hdmi adapter. Let me know if you fancy one. Still got a few with 128gb Ssd's in

  • As an update, I still have these and have done nothing with them!

If anyone is interested in a unit without a HDD then let me know. Note a Win 7 Pro license is assigned and included with each machine. Can throw in a docking station to a lucky few too.

I will be posting them for sale with HDD/SSD options in the next few weeks otherwise. Again, if anyone is interested then let me know

    • Hi Cureforanitch,
How much did you want for a unit without a HDD? Looking for a unit. Thanks

      • I've done an audit, and the units have slightly different/better specs than listed above;

        • 3 x with a CPU: Intel® Core™ i5 processor 560M and 4GB RAM
        • 3 x with a CPU: Intel® Core™ i5 processor 560M and 2GB RAM

        • 1 x with a CPU: Intel® Core™ i5 processor 520M and 4GB RAM

        • 2 x with a CPU: Intel® Core™ i5 processor 520M and 2GB RAM

Mikemike, make me an offer. Is it just one you want?

  • I may be interested in one with a HDMI drive in the future

  • Still got some of these for sale if anyone is interested. Note I've put 128gb Ssd's in them now and installed windows 7 pro as per the assigned license to each machine. Pm me if anyone is interested
