  • PendoPad Windows 8" Quacore 16GB Tablet $179
doesnt look too bad my main concerns would be only 1gb of ram
and what the viewing angles of the screen are like, the last pendo tablet i bought was absolute garbage unless looking directly at it not from any sort of angle.

    Nice

    • Yeah the 9 reviews on site are pretty good

    • I'd hold off on that one a bit. There's apparently a bunch of sub-$100 full-Win8 tablets available now/soon with similar specs - specifically, the rather low RAM.

      • Indeed, although the price seems to be coming in above the $100 mark (eg the Pipo W4 is now available, but not at the promised price - see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZPpjQCnqzk )

The only thing I'd say is the Office 365 subscription is worth something - although maybe worth waiting till Target have their inevitable sale, and the reviews come in.

        • There are 9 reviews on the target site

          @TRENT86:

I was thinking reviews where Target don't get to delete anything they don't like…

I'm also thinking that it might be worth waiting till 2GB/32GB options roll around for ~$120

        • +1

@sane: If you look at their site there are plenty of bad reviews that haven't been removed on products. Also I put a video review of an Aussie who got one from Target, that video is in post

        • The only odd addition here to me seems to be the office 365 sub!?
If it was a corporate offering fair enough, but doubt corporates would go for pendopads.
I'd love a basic x86 based tablet for home (steam streaming!), but will wait for the next wave, hopefully without office, and at a cheaper price point.
Nice to see some affordable atom tablets though.

        • the main reason for the dirt cheap prices is the fact that Microsoft is giving away Windows for free! yep folks, if you're riding the OS wave it's a great time to be an Ozbargainer, free Windows 8.1, free Mac OS X 10.10, free (as usual to their credit!) Android, it's a marketshare war and it's about to get bloody…

        • @morpheu:
Windows 8.1 isn't 'free'. It's a free upgrade. MS might be doing deals with OEMs but not consumers.

As for OS X, it too isnt 'free', it's a free upgrade, it just so happens they don't sell the OS unbundled from hardware and the image can be mounted for a clean install.

    • I wouldn't worry too much about the 1gb of ram. Apparently it runs just fine.

There's a whole thread on whirlpool on this tablet. Seems like a good buy.

      • Yeah the video review in post explains everything

  • Not sure if title is spelling mistake or on purpose, hmm…

    • Lol I didn't even notice, My stupid d isn't working properly cheers:)

At least the n key was working on Pendopad.

        • Well for one he missed a "d" and the other and "n". Which was why I wasn't sure.

  • How would this Pendo 8 compare to a Nexus 7 in terms of usability for word processing and web surfing?

    • Comparing windows with androids

  • the 7" pendo is coming up in the catalogue at $79 for me not 59?

Me thinks at $59, grab a bunch of them for xmas presents for the oldies and the kiddies..

    • Dude click the link for the $59 one in post an it will take you right to it :)

      • The link to the 7" pendo is not working for me either, I can only see the $79 catalogue version

        • Yeah, same for me - "content failed to load".

        • @Tihocan: Yeah it is a new addition to Target so hasn't been added to site yet. I thought you meant you couldn't click main link to catalogue :)

    • Watch the video I posted he explains the whole thing pretty well and compares it against a surface tablet

      • +1

That's for the 8" Win8, I was more interested in the 10" android

    • Yea, I am interested in the 10" one as well. The spec looks good and three reviews are positive.

    • I also wonder how it would compare to the Afunta and Dragon Touch tabs on Amazon, which are similar but $20 cheaper.

    New Windows out soon :p

  • Saw a few windows pendo units at Macquarie Centre. Really tempted to get one.

  • Trent86…you're a legend, you've done it again! Thank you very much.

  • Does the android 7" Pendo Pad suck as much as the others from Dick Smith? Or is this a different one??

    • It's a different one to the 7" ones offered by dse and officeworks

      • Ooh sounds promising.. Do you know if its better/worth the time? Have you seen any reviews for it?

        • No it's a relatively new one which I think is exclusive to Target, but @ 1.3GHZ And 8Gb with sd slot for $59 you can't lose

  • :)
