Thought this was a pretty good deal. These get a 4 star rating which is pretty damn good for an under $100 pair of noise cancelling headphones.

  • Does anyone know how these compare to the sony MDR-NC13 that was on here a month or so ago?

    • +3

I have both. The audio quality is similar, but the NC on the Sony is terrible. It doesn't compare.

  • 4-star rating definitely doesnt mean "damn good"

IMO, a 4 star rating on Amazon for a $54 set of Audio Technica noise cancelling headphones is a very good deal. Other noise cancelling headphones, for instance Bose QuietComfort 20i Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones are around $300. Noise cancelling headphones are also notriously expensive and shit. So yes IMO, this is a damn good deal. Cheers

I have the Bose which I paid $300 for. I'm guessing their NC is better than these ATs, but I doubt they're 6X better, for the price you pay.

        • +1

I have both these and QC20i's. If I had never tried to Bose ones then I would think the ATH were amazing. They really don't compare but probably worth the price.

        • @lebrongarnet: How would you compare the audio quality? I don't feel the Bose are the best I've listened to.

      • it has nothing to do with the price. you can find some even cheaper headphones with really "damn good" rating. 4 stars is just a good buy, thats all.

  • Anyway, when I tried to buy it, it won't ship to my address because it's not direct from Amazon. Maybe AMZ ran out of stock?

    • +2

I can add the device from 'Firemall LLC' instead of 'Westaudio' and it will ship to AU at the advertised price.

  • I bought the ANC33is from Scorptec ($89) 14 months ago prior to a one month o/s trip, excellent sound, they last well through all flights and are still going, and I am fairly rough with my mobile gear. I have noticed the sound cancellation deteriorates as the battery does though.
The ANC23 aren't even on AT site anymore so maybe old stock?

  • How is Phiaton 210 BTNC compared to this? Extra of $50 to have Bluetooth on top of noise cancelling.

Good price! I bought the ANC33is for $71 from Storedj few months ago and it was working quite well throughout my 20 hrs flight two weeks ago. Yes, this is not comparable to the Bose QC series but for the quality and price, this is of amazing value!

Good deal. The sound quality sound and noise cancellation on these are unmatched for that price. Survived many long-hauls from Adelaide to London with these, and the battery lasted the whole trip, though the NC was marginally weaker by the end. Still, the difference is huge. Can't fly without them now.

  • When I use Sony MDR-NC13 noise cancelling headphones with mobile phones, it typically generates a strange buzzing noise when the mobile phone when it is roaming networks. Does it happen on these ones too?

    • Not sure if it's what you're talking about but ANC causes some hissing when it's on.

  • I've had my eye on the ANC33is. How are these different?
EDIT: answered my own question: "ATH-ANC33iS is a highly similar but noticeably superior sequel, now with 13mm drivers, a slightly less fancy housing, and a one-button remote and microphone unit."
