Wow… this looks OLD! Do we still have parallel ports?

      Date first available at Amazon.com:

      August 22, 2003

That's more than 11 whopping years!

      • Wow!

  • Shame it doesn't have wireless. Also appears to be at least 3 yr old.

This printer model was released around 12 years ago (2003) so very old (latest is MFC-7240). Considering it works on all versions of Windows from win NT 4.0/98 through to latest 8.1, comes with an old style parallel port and slow 14.4k fax speed.

    • Also has a usb port

I last sent a fax in 1998. Might buy one just to send a nostalgic fax to some random fax number.

I have to send faxes all of the time, you'd be surprised the number of organisations (including government depts) that still rely on fax & snail mail for conducting business.

Medicare is a classic example, a lot of provider/service level stuff still needs to be either faxed or mailed, email is not an option.

    • A lot cheaper than sending it by post.

The old is probably a good thing (if you can still get toner) as they obviously reliable, unlike most of the other rubbish out there.

  • We had one of these about a million years ago, and had endless troubles with the fax side of it. Save your money.

  • Hi OP. Thanks for the post. Could you please clarify voucher conditions? There are other items I'm looking to buy from Staples. Cheers.

      • Thanks!

  • I personally kinda worry whether Staples will honour the order as it seems I need to use all codes to get that price and actually those codes are for different organisations - one for NRMA and one for Swans in SYD.

Still not sure whether I should give it a go… any ideas? and I suppose it can send fax from PC just a like a modem.

BTW, haven't seen a fax machine with handset for ages :) Looking forward to make a phone call with this if I decided to get one LOL! :D

This must be the most ridiculous reason I have ever seen for an impulsive purchase. Haha.:)

      • Thanks. I ended up added a dictionary $4.

      • this could have saved me delivery with the HP printer.. anyways.. will note..

I've got one of these. Had it for ages. The printer part at the bottom is the same as my Brother HL-2040 and its almost bullet-proof! Works great. The only thing I find the top part useful for is making photocopies (of sheets). Its a bit slow but handy nonetheless. Probably well worth it for the price if you want a basic mono laser that can also do the odd copy of single sheets (as long as you can feed it through the scanner - fax part). Works well as a fax also (if you happen to need that).

These were almost $1000 when they came out. Sold and serviced many of them. They are a good unit, plenty of cheap compatible toners around. Though the drums can be expensive but last 12,000 pages (would be better to buy a couple of these instead of paying for a drum).

  • Looks more like a fax machine to me.

NRMAXPYT15 15% off code has expired.

    • expires 31/10/2014

edit: says expired on staples website but in email says 31/10/14

  • guys.. don't waste time on this.. I've just been on the phone with their CS and they said that the codes are being investigated.. they will back-order your orders and charge you the full amount. I just had them cancel my order.

    • They've actually cancelled all the NRMA codes and will charge you the higher amount for it according to a rep I was on the phone to. Best to cancel all your orders now guys.

  • lol I fished one of these out from the council verge pickup in 2004 thinking it's some great find. Took it back a week later.

  • Had order in and they charged my credit card the higher amount without NRMA code, rang them they said code was only for NRMA members so I cancelled order.
