Was $9.89 last year. I knew because I only bought 8 early this month using last year's rain cheque. Got lucky they honoured it no questions asked.
8? What are you doing with all of them? Diesel still is slightly cheaper…
We use it all the time for asian cooking.. As I understand it, it's probably the best kind of cooking oil..
Plus, it's good for 2 years and we have a big family..But is this stuff good for you?
I would say no, something about being made in Thailand using solvents. Cold pressed olive oil is better imho.
Spend 10 minutes of you valuable time and read some FACTS about it.
@Possumbly:
What FACTS?@netbies: the chemical analysis which shows "goodies and baddies" - antioxidants, cholesterol, fats etc; its smoking temp; how it's derived.
FACTS like those, which can help answer questions and assist people to make informed decisions.
You'll also find opinions on taste and "oiliness", ideas for cooking with it, and comparisons with other oils - all of which are more subjective but nevertheless useful.
Poor ratio of fats.
Omega 6 fatty acid 34.4% and Omega 3 fatty acid 2.2%.Conclusion, good for cooking, not good for typical western diets already too high in Omega 6 (typically 20 fold too much).
Apparently there's some evidence polyunsaturated fats like Omega 6 are linked to skin cancer.
Thanks, learned two things from your deal today, both useful.
rice bran oil is best for cooking,… it has a smoking point almost double of olive oil, and produces no carcinigenes…
extra virgin olive oil is the best for salads.
That's what I was told…
Yuck. Worst oil to cook with. Brought it for $8 last year and used half. Food isn't the same. Going back to good old canola or veg oil fornshallow frying. And virgin or cold pressed for salads etc.
In general i try to dry fry meet anyways. I do sometimes add just a dash to coat the serfice. So not sure how much ur using?
good nonstick pans need little or no oil :)
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/130073#comment-1793953seems a couple of neggers like lots of oil :)
This is the BEST oil for a deep fryer.
Set your fryer to max heat, dont worry about burning the oil, and fry super quick.
Quick frys means less time to absorb excess oil.
I tried this oil in my deep fryer, I found the rice oil seemed to splatter a lot more than canola I was using. I also found the taste of the final product better with canolo.
I read canola is not good for health.. Never tried it before.
The topic is deep frying, don't think they care about health.
Read wider.
Thanks OP, my supply is running low so this is timely :)
