The game was free for a day during the Payday 2 Crimefest. Love Payday 2 (spent about 300 hours on it so far) and may try the first one later on - so I bought the Wolfpack dlc.

Or people didn't know, myself included, hence why I've just purchased the game + DLC.

I got the game for free, but Christ son, some people have lives and can't be waiting on one-day sales on Steam. Check yourself.

          I envy those people.

It was known about for many weeks in fact since 27 July 2014 that Payday The Heist was going to be given away for free and when. Plenty of time to know about it and prepare for the freebie. No excuse for not knowing or not having the time where there was a whole 24 hour time period to grab it for free.

You can still have a life and still know about these things. It's not like it was a deal that expectantly suddenly popped up for a few minutes only without notice.

        • @hollykryten: I work away for 7 days at a time, I also study a degree through Uni. As much as I'd like to open/read every Ozbargain which comes my way, I simply don't have the time, instead I look for keywords for things I'm after. I've also learnt from experience that any game which is "free" generally requires registration through Facebook, or recovers it's money via some other method.

Basically I'm saying this: It's ok to think that people like myself are fools but it's socially unacceptable to say it. Even this post I'm responding to could have held the words "I may have been a little harsh saying they were fools" ………. but it didn't.

        • @Ebany:

Now you know not every game which is given away free requires facebook or money. :)

  • The Wolfpack DLC is worth the money. Thanks for posting!

Yes. Just bought the Wolfpack DLC too as well as the soundtrack.

  • thanks..

Payday 2 is 75% off as well ($7.49 USD). Not sure if that is a good deal?

    • Same, I saw it but at 75% off I wasn't sure if it was considered a deal and I ran out of time to research it. Thanks for posting, I probably should have put something up just in-case :)

    • +2

Thanks for letting us know. That's a great deal.

    • +2

It's been cheaper ($5.99 USD) but $7.49 is still a great deal considering the value you're getting in Payday 2. Just make sure to play it with a couple of friends every time. Solo is nowhere near as enjoyable as co-op.

      • As I discovered on a "Free Weekend", one of the reasons I never had any interest in the first one. Now it's too cheap for my addictive bargain hunting side to pass up :)

been wanting to check out this series. thanks mate.

  • is there any min system requirements to play this?

    • These are the minimum requirements listed by Steam, they should be accurate.

      OS: Windows XP, Vista, 7
      Processor: P4 3 GHz or Athlon 3400+
      Memory: 1 GB Ram
Video Card: NVIDIA 7800GTX or ATI x1900
