It's most definitely a price error, given this game only just came out this year. Get it while you can :)

GamersGate account required (registration can be from any country, although the freebie link is only available on the UK site). Redeemable on Steam, available for Windows/Mac/Linux.

Edit: Deal marked as expired - however you can still attain the game but there are no keys left (Gamersgate does state they will supply the key eventually but due to the nature of this post nothing is promised).

        • @Elijha:

Same here. A week later since my last message and the game is still on my account. I did also install and run the game for about 10 minutes. I was also an existing Gamersgate customer having previous purchases.

        • @Ebany:

Well in that case they're taking their sweet time about it. It's only been about a week and a half later. I don't think any thing is going to happen for those who already installed and played the game on Steam. Lucky them. Maybe they just can't remove games from an account once it's been installed and played or Gamersgate has decided it's too troublesome to do it and let it slide. Either way the fact is a week and a half later the game are still on accounts of those who already installed and played the game. And not on those who just left the game never touched in the Steam account.

Maybe only those who did not install and play the game. Probably why yours was removed from Steam the day after you did not install and play the game so it was left untouched in your Steam account so was easy to remove.

        • @hollykryten: Those bastards, it feels like I'm the only one who lost the game :(

        • @hollykryten:

Maybe only those who did not install and play the game.

Nah, I didn't install it but it's still there. No intention to either.

        • @Ebany:

May be the case, but the company released a statement on their site saying they would be voiding the serial numbers as the "free" pricing was an error.

Can you provide a link to this statement? Tried searching, but couldn't find it.

        • @kamoi: I didn't bookmark the page so I can't provide a link, but I can tell you I located it in the forums - there were a lot of people in there talking about the "pricing error", some who (like me) had lost the game. One of the messages I came across directed me to a page where management explained that the "pricing error" was due to some sort of change over in their system and they were now working with Steam to actively recall any distributed serial numbers.
Personally I'd suggest you simply play the game and enjoy :)

        • @Ebany: Took a look on the forums and was able to find the post you mentioned. Doesn't mention anything about Steam keys being revoked.

I wouldn't really call that an 'official' response though. The user who posted it (m661) is a volunteer community moderator and if you look at their profile it states the following :P

          1. My opinions are my own, and do not necessarily represent those of GamersGate. Please do not quote something I said as coming from a GamersGate official, because that is not what I am.
        • @kamoi: That's not the post I read, it had a link to an official response on the topic - now you have me wondering if I read it on GG or elsewhere…….

You could always send them an email, I would do so myself but losing the game means majority of any interest I held has evaporated - also I didn't want to rock the boat for those lucky souls who still have it.

I guess the real question is; "Do you believe they will attempt to recover the thousands of serial numbers or do think they'll let it slide and absorb the cost?"

        • @Ebany: Are you sure that's not the post you read? It's word for word what you quoted earlier here :P

          And it's gone :D

          http://i.imgur.com/ghz3pgH.png

Oh well, made 25c from selling the trading cards so still a good deal I guess :P

        • @kamoi: I imagine the person you quoted read the same statement I did, there were a fair few of them all over the web (including the Steam forums) though many on GG were getting deleted as fast as they were created.

I'll be honest, I'm not sure what you require from me. I'm unable to provide a link, nor am I going to bother expending effort searching for one as Steam took my game while leaving everyone else's intact. If it's simply that you don't believe me, then I'm sorry for trying to do a good turn to fellow Ozbargainers and warning them of my plight.

Probably to save further argument, I withdraw my previous statement about Steam removing the games, it won't happen, I made it all up because I'm that type of nasty person who was jealous that I got the game and then Steam removed it (if that even happened), and I'm not sorry!

whew. So now I'm exposed, please enjoy the game and know that many of us poor souls are jealous …. and if anyone else says Steam took their game then sharpen them pitch forks!

        • @kamoi: Bugger. After taking an hour to slowly write my long winded dribble about how Steam won't take away keys ………. sometimes I think that if God existed it's simply to f'k with my life :)

Anyways, that image you posted is the one. I would have taken a screenshot myself but figured everyone was getting their games taken the same time I did :p

Steam revoked the game on me wow.

    • yep same.. and it was gifted to me too lol

Interesting this message implies the keys were a) not paid for b) possibly illegally obtain or distributed.
It wasn't either of these things (payment was not asked for).

  • Warlock 2 was just revoked from my Steam account. It took them long enough.

  • Revoked on all my accounts !

  • Next time some thing is $0 from Gamersgate i won't bother with it because they don't honour it in any case. Just a waste of time.

Ironically i bet Warlock 2 will be given away some time in a Humble bundle or some other charity bundle. Probably wait for one of those.

Revoked before I even installed it :D

  • Yep revoked .. played it for a bit - wasn't my type of game anyway.

  • How can they simply revoke something that was free and that i bought for nothing?

just wondering how they can do this regaurdless of an error or not it's not our fault.

    • How can a person pay $90 for a game from EB, but if it's attached to a Steam account which gets banned you can neither play it or unattached the serial to resell or attach to another account?

Unfortunately no-one has a choice unless they wish to drag the issue through court, bugger that it is.

      • not the same thing you get banned if you are hacking/cheating in some way. this was a legit game that was purchased.

        • Technically they can only ban you (legally) from the "extras" side of Steam (trading cards, achievements, social networking, etc) as that person has paid money for the game licence and access to that game. The original concept was DRM, now it's to stop ppl from selling 2nd-hand games so they must buy new.

Anyway, I'm getting off topic so let me put it in a different way.

No-one here purchased the game legitimately, we are all aware of this. Each one of us who got a key knew it may not last as we were all 99.999% sure it was a pricing error. At the end of the day someone has to pay money for those keys and it wasn't going to be us.

There is no way on this Earth that a person could possibly think this mass Key removal was unexpected.

        • @Ebany: everyone bought the game legitimatly it was for sale for $0 so free we all logged in and clicked add to cart and bought it.
it's not like we hacked them for the keys.

        • @holden93: Just give it a rest.. You didn't buy it, therefore they can remove it.. the button you clicked was 'add to account'.. not 'add to cart'…

  • yay, I wasn't the only one!

  • Well, I had the game taken away from my steam account today….. oh well, worth a try.

  • Me too

  • Seems a bit petty. Didn't go much on the game though.
