Warning. Bought 2 last week from Dick when same price - both faulty straight out of the box!
Makes me very nervous about reliability of external hdds. Because of this I backup everything twice to different external hdds - and also backup most important files to cloud. Originally I thought this was being overly cautious but the high failure rate makes it necessary to have duplicate backups.
I avoid Seagate altogether after their high drive failure years ago that they never acknowledged. Like it was a common problem that a LOT of people had but they just ignored everyone.
Not saying this failure you had is related to that but the company has put a sour taste in my mouth and I'd never support them because of it.
